I just came on to tell everyone about a better product than the rotary cutters. I was just at Lowe's(hardware store)and saw this product called Zip Snip.Came home and saw the QVC ad about it, read reviews etc.So I went back and bought it. Works great, cuts fabric like a breeze. And best part NO BLADES TO BUY.

The NO BLADE intrigued me, but all that I found in my research was items that needed blades as well. What am I missing?

Senior moment. I checked back and then read that it is a self sharpening blade.

My kids got me Black & Decker Cordless Power Scissors a couple years ago and it worked (noticed "worked")really well to cut fabric until everyone started using them on other things. So if you get something like these designate them to only cutting fabric. It will still cut some fabrics, I just have to do a sample first.

I have had this problem in my house as well. Now everyone knows my sewing scissors are off limits to everyone except me & my sewing room. NO PAPER CUTTING PERIOD!!!

wonder if that guard thing would come off. I don't like the rotary cutters. Have friends who tell me I'm crazy. But I can do things faster and easier with these.. http://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-Sof...

Best scissors I ever owned.

I just went to see the utube video. Looks like a very useful tool. Only drawback I see is if you need good accuracy it would be a little iffy, but worth a try. Will wait to hear how well you like them after using them for a bit.

Just checked it out on the internet, looks very promising. I guess this will go on my xmas stocking list.
My DH loves it when I tell him exactly what to buy.
Thanks for the info

I don't think you will have the "control" you are used to, because of the blade guard. It is made sort of like a chenille cutter, you have to have the guard under the item you are cutting, so most of the cuts they demo are straight cuts, no curves. Take a better look, I wouldn't be able to cut out patterns (arm holes, etc) with it, because the guard has to ride under the fabric and pattern. Would be wonderful for other household needs, those pesky clam shell plastic packages are a pain and straight cuts for screening, wrapping paper, sort of like the first electric scissors, works but not really for quilting 1/4" seam allowances, it. No real precision here. IMHO Linda
