Marji, maybe someone thats new in the SS this year can get some ideas from this old post if there SS has posted on here, unfortunitly my person has no posts on this thread.
Better to make a new post, saying "get ideas from last year's thread" and put a link. People are not looking at the date, and waiting for Sue's message, 9 months later. People don't read the dates.
Please look at the date up by Sue's name--this message was posted 30 October of 2011! I'm assuming this was LAST year's Secret Santa exchange. I don't think this applies to this year, but I'm sure Sue will correct me if I'm wrong.
Before you get too excited about answering a post, especially if you've found the post through something like Google search, please look at the date it was originally posted. In fact, it's always good to look when something was posted originally, because sometimes people are getting answers to questions they asked months ago, and the project or event is long over with that they needed help with. Especially with announcements like this one, it can be very confusing for people. Thanks, hugs, Marji
thanks for this info Marj i thought i had missed her post and was starting to worry
I think blue & silver look terrific @ Christmas time. I don't much care for the red & green, I am a bit different I guess
I haven't received anything either so I came back to take another look at this post when I got to thinking that March was pretty early for Christmas when we haven't had Christmas in July yet. That is when I realized that this post is from Oct 2011. Not relevant right now so you can stop checking your inbox.
Hi Sue I also think this is an old hint from last year. Love Marie
Not sure if I am included in the 90 Sue, but I have not received a message - email I am assuming... are you carried over from year to year or do you have to reregister for Birthday, July and December SS...have participated in all for 2011 and not sure if you need us to indicate our interest in being part of the Secret Sister/Santa for 2012.... Thanks Glenda
Is this for secret Santa or secret sister, or are they both the same? I have not received any notifications as yet.
Thanks, Bonnie
they are different, but my secret sister and secret santa are in the same month.better get started now
I am partial to blue, sparkly, snowflakes and silver metallic s. I have a simple theme usually with FSL items all around my LR and dining area. I have a bar/island and is decorated with small items like angels and other fun stuff. My family room I reserve for my Nativity set. I tend to be more serious in this area. I have wood floors and dark brown simple furniture. I have a small tree as my children are grown and moved away. The tree was decorated last year with Christmas bulbs for each of my grandchildren. When my granddaughter comes I like soft plush toys, and busy books.
Hope this helps!
Hugs, Bonnie
I use green and green plaid with silver accents on red velvet fabric.
I like blue, blue, blue and oh! yes - blue! But for Christmas I like all the traditional Christmas colours of red, green, gold and silver but not blue. How funny!
I love the traditional Christmas colors like many of you.... and for Christmas, I love sparkles!
Thanks Sue, received mine. I love any colour in the blues, but also like bright colours. Usually not fond of the browns
Like most folks, I love the reds, greens, golds, and silvers. Sometimes the design will call for something different. I love using white, pale blue and silver on snowflakes.
Charla
Usually My prefered colours are blue and silver, but for christmas I like green red and gold
For Christmas, lots of holiday color, red, silver, gold. For the rest of the year though anything in aqua, teal, light yellow, soft pastels.I am not a brown person so I don't have anything in cream or brown.
Traditional Christmas colors for me, red, green, gold and silvers. Love blue and brown in the house any other time.
I Believe- big time- My house gets decorated twice a year (July&December) with mostly handmade items cushions, stockings, mats, hangers. I like the traditional red & gree, gold, silver or white. DO NOT like the purple, pink & some blue decorations that are 'the rage' at the moment-YUK.
I love to add angels & Aussie items such as life-size white boombers (I made them from MDF.) Santa has gumnuts & gum leaves draped around him, I have australian animals holding stars or tinsell or presents, I have four cmas trees: my table gets the full treatment all of December: I put up Christmas lights- hubby laughs as we live out in the country - makes no difference to me - the flashing Merry Christmas goes all night. Just love giving at Christmas time so bring it on
hugs & sparkles from minicow
Added for Secret Sister...Hope I'm easy to please gggg. I love my country Australia, &, as my birthday falls in July(have parties for Christmas in July) I would love anything Aussie (birds, animals, flowers) &/or anything Christmas. Other than that anything in FSL (not bowls/baskets gather too much dust here on the farm). Hobbies other than sewing/machine embroidery are photography, quilt making & miniatures(dollshouses) - Favourite colours yellow, pink, red. I love Australian fabrics.
I am looking forward to the day after Thanksgiving to decorate my house. I live near the ocean and my house has sand color wall with beachy accents in blues. I am easy I love everything. In December my home is red, green and gold.
ok my favourite colours are monochrome or so bright and breezy that make the eyes blink and the lips smile. annie in the uk
I love red and gold. so regal looking. I also love burgundy the color in my living room and dinning room.
Cindy B.
Christmas colors for me are red, green, gold & silver.
I too like the idea of gifts that can be used year round.
Favorite colors are teal and pinks. Love florals and fairies.
Thanks
Terri
I am an eclectic Christmas decorator, anything goes except Blue.
My Christmas tree decorations have been collected, or hand made, over the last 40 years and I have far too many to fit on any tree other than a real one. That's my excuse for buying a real tree every Christmas. LOL!!!
Around the house I hang pine cones I have decorated with Santa Snow and trailing ribbons and I hang lots of Christmas garlands with bells across the ceiling.
Every year I buy some sort of Angel to hang on my tree, but I have no lace Angels.
Well that's not exactly true, I have all the beautiful FSL Angels Cuties sent me when I was fighting breast cancer, but they are all permanently stitched to my wedding shawl and take pride of place, on my dressmaker's dummy, in my sewing room.
Non-Christmas theme gifts are absolutely welcome.
Like most digitisers I never seem to find time to sew for myself. And like most women, I love laces, ribbons, butterflies, feminine pretty things, country cottage, sunbonnets, flowers, birds, oh just about anything and being a Leo, cats are top of my list.
Something I am in dire need of is hand towels for my kitchen, any country colour but blue.
OK, I know it's too much information, but it will probably be my only reply because Tidgy will most likely be having the radiation treatment this week and I will be making several full day trips to the University in Sydney.
Besides, too much info is far better than not having enough and struggling to find something to make. Hugs and roses, Meganne
Meganne, are all blue colors out? I thought I read on the other "favorites" thread that turquoise is a favorite color and that you like the blue wren bird. Or do you just not like the "country blue" color? Just curious! Denise
Oh dear, I do love blues, but not in my house, sounds kinda weird doesn't it? We have gorgeous blue bathrooms in this house and they look wonderful but all my towels are greens, apricots and beiges so nothing matches & we can't re-tile the bathrooms because Ray is a blue person.
I feel good when I am surrounded by warm colours. I wear all colours, but have very few blue Items. Yes, I love Teals and Turquoise and Aquas and I love and value any gift, regardless of the colour. I keep everything. LOL!!!
because Ray is a blue person.

I thought what I wrote was confusing, so.. You know when you see some item & you say, "Oh isn't that colour gorgeous"
You may love it, but it isn't for you.
That's how I feel about cool colours, blues, teals etc. And I loathe bright abstracts or Hawaiian type florals.
or Hawaiian type large florals. I guess I have always been conservative with clothing. But I'm coming out of my shell a lot as I get older. LOL!!!!
Would your answer be the same if the light blue color were an accent color? Thinking of a color wheel, for instance, light blue would be opposite of a peach color. Just curious, again.
I know what you mean about liking a color but not really wanting it for yourself. I may go to someone's home and love their color scheme/style for them, but it wouldn't necessarily be something I'd like for myself.
wanting it for yourself.
(I had to retype because half my answer got deleted when I submitted it.)
Red,Green, burgundy (or wine)

I like traditional Christmas colors (red, green, gold, silver) for Christmas. I am partial to blues for myself. I have "earth tones" (browns, tans, dark greens, creams, etc.) in my house. I do decorate for Christmas and would appreciate a year-around item just as much as a Christmas item.
Hiya! I agree with Annie in the Uk, It's a shame not to enjoy such lovely Christmasy items all year round - unless you're Wal-Mart - then you can display them almost year round! :-D I tend toward Christmas colors of burgundy and gold or red and green. For everyday items: blue and white for the kitchen. White on white anywhere (love heirloom look) and in the sewing room "girly pastels" light pinks, greens and yellows just make me happy. I love anything someone took the time to make for me ! Hugs and *'s. Thanks! Deb
Hi there, Thanks yes I got mine.
For myself I love pink, for the house I love white or cream. (love white on white for bedroom) love hand made goodies.
Hugs Yvonne
My colors are purple and white. This year I'm also doing a Mardi Gras tree. It is a small one but fun to do. Of course the purple and white tree and a tree decorated by my 2 Grandsons
I love the traditional Christmas colors of red, green, and gold. This is my favorite time of year!
Teal and Silver, with gifts having a practical year round appeal
Christmas colours are red, green, gold and silver. I love my gift from last year. It sits above my computer so I can admire it all year round even though it is Christmas
I am hoping for something that I can appreciate all year long! Something personal not for "the house" and colorful! I love nature and straight lines. Just to say I probably need more curves in my life. hehe
Christmas colors: gold, burgundy and copper, these colors also work well for year around interior decor colors in my home.
Red green silver & gold.
I made some stained glass quilt panels featuring candles & bells which stay up until Easter because they look so bright & cheery. I'm sure others have favourite Christmas items that stay out well after Christmas too
For Christmas- dark green and dark red
For me - I love blues and yellows.
my colours are blue and silver or burgandy and moss green
The traditional Christmas colors - red, green and Gold -
I also prefer burgundy type "reds" with warm gold and copper for Christmas. However, I agree with Annie that it is a pity to use some things for such a short time and then store them out of sight. I also prefer to receive gifts that can be used all year round. In that case, I love most colours.
For Christmas - Red, Green and Gold.
My kitchen is cream and everything else is BLUE.
Love Chris
Thanks Sue
Well I know coffee and cream go well together! But no BROWN in my home! Love Chris
I just realised I can't visit you if you have no Browns in your house, my maiden name was Brown. hahahahahaha!
christmas colors gold, burgundy and copper, everyday colors green and warm shades of yellow.
Thank you
Michelle
Christmas colors: Red, Green, Gold/Silver.
Regular colors for home: Peach, Teal or Light Green
Favorite Christmas colors: red, green, gold and purple. However I agree with Annie from the UK, Christmas is too short, so... if its not Christmasy than I would have to say blue, purple and green.
Diane
does not really need to be for Xmas. This way I can give it a nice place during the whole year.
i never make christmas gifts as they are only in use such a short time and i like to use gifts that as home made all year round. after all so much love and thought has been put into them that it is a shame that they get hidden away so much. Annie in the UK
I'm with you, so much focus on such a short space of time! I don't 'do' Halloween or Easter or whatever else there is, either.
My thoughts exactly, in fact I was beginning to think I should have bought that cap from the joke shop that said "Bah Humbug" lol, Ruth
I to am so pleased that there are some others in the secret santa set that are not festivaly orientated. The Origninal "Santa" who was dressed in red was actually the Roman Lord of missrule. On Yule eve the upper class gave a party to all the servants and it went on for several days the upper class would serve their servants themselves (Just like the officers in the Royal navy do on Christmas day to this day)and the servants were given slave girls to bring some fun to the party. The job of the Lord of missrule was to go around and make sure everyone was haveing a good time, because for many of the servants this would be the last days of their life as they would be sent to the arena at the next games day and fed to the lions.
nice custom.Have a Merry Christmas every one... or else ......annie in the UK
I agree with you all 100%, so much effort put in by so many harried women, to be enjoyed for so short a time, Bah Humbug!!!
Yes I do it every year, but not Easter or Halloween
I fall in this category as well. I don't decorate for any of the holidays. Spend almost all holidays with my grandsons at their home. Daughter decorates with deep burgundy and deep green with gold and it's very pretty. My colors are blue and purple.
