10/31/11 * Came home on my lunch break and thought I would blind stitch my dress neckline on my blinding machine. The fabric is a Rayon Jersey and now it has little holes (DUH!). I stopped before I made it any worst. Any suggestions what I could do to bring ART to this mess...FIESTA ANYHOW - TU ;D

The first think i would do is put it away for a few days, don't try to work on it when you are upset. It seems once you make a mistake they seem to keep happening! Could you look at the fabric store and maybe find some nice contrasting fabric or trim, maybe add it to the neckline and perhaps around the sleeves so it wuld look like you meant it to be that way?

I see where the material is Rayon Jersey. Maybe you should have used a ball point needle. Sharp needles
can leave holes in knits. Hope that you can salvage
your dress. Maureen

By Blinding I pesume it is Blind Stitch. Rayon doesn't have enough pile for the machine to pick up plus the depth of the needle would be set too deep. ALWAYS try blind stitching on a sample first. First make a sample then try to steam the holes closed if they don't you will have to attach a facing then use the hemming web that you iron on to hold the extra down on the inside. If you close the holes up use the hemming web to fuse the turn. Best of luck

Thanks! I L*VE your suggestion and I will keep this in mind when I do something else in Rayon Knit :) I did a test on a sample piece and that came out good but I used the selvage edge, they appear to be stronger for some reason. I was able to save it and no one can tell unless I show them ;D *2U

Could you start again, perhaps trim off the binding and replace it with ribbing?

Thanks, I tried this with triming off to see if it would work and my shoulder straps would have been micro :) I was able to save the dress. I have one more thing to add to it and it's finished ;D *2U

You could cut strips of water soluble to give it enough body to sew on the binding. The neckline is a curve so your strips might need to be trimmed to the curve for your machine to feed.
