I have to share this time saving, dusting, tip with you all. Not only will this reduce the frequency you need to dust furniture (etc.) but it will recycle something you normally just throw out.

SO, for those of you who use the anti-static, fabric-softening, sheets in your clothes dryers.....
don't throw them away at the end of their tour in your dryer, use them to dust anything and everything that accumulates dust, they will normally have enough anti-static quality left to pass it on to whatever you dust and make the items repel dust for days, if not weeks.

Great for TV screens.

Hugs n roses, Meganne

What a great idea, I don't use them in my dryer but I might have to start. I do have some anti-static spray, I might try spraying that on my dusting cloths. I hate dusting and I hate dust.

Anything!!! Anything!!!! at all that helps to reduce the dust in this house is worth a try. It's fluff in winter, pine tree pollen in August-September, grass pollen in October-November, red dust December-March. The kindly hot fierce north winds that blow on really hot days drops its load in my place - doors and windows closed.... it doesn't matter. That farm soil from up north finds its way into every nook and cranny.
I'll try the anti-static sheets but really the only thing that de-dusts this place is to wipe all furniture with a wet cloth and wash every movable object that can be washed.
54 years fighting the stuff and I'm ready to give up and live with darn dust.
AlmaG.

I do hope everyone knows the dryer sheets can do more than 1 load. I use them 3-4 loads apiece, then I save the used ones to dust floors, shelves. For floors I have a "mop" top I made with little elastic strips to hold them in place, just stuff a whole bunch of used sheets and sweep away . For furniture I just grab a handful and dust.I've got lots of dust bunny friends so I know I have a lot to do.

I don't know. I like my swiffer clothes, cause there is more dust here than I can ever dust away! I will try it! I hope it works cause I go through a lot of swiffer and I could spend that money on ME! machine embroidery - not me... well yes me... Thank you! Live Laugh Download Stitch!

Another great use for these little sheets is to place them on your swiffer and they will collect all the little
thread, fabric and dust that collects on your sewing room
floor.
Sometimes I just use my swiffer without and sheet and the
rubberized bottom just collects everything, even better for the enviroment.

Michelle

carpet in a sewing room, oof, tough one,
sorry cannot help with that one

meganne by meganne 06 Nov 2011

Yes mad14kt, my tip would be to tear up the carpet and replace it with linoleum/vinyl flooring or lacquered timber, so much easier to keep clean and so much healthier. :-))) Hugs, Meganne

Cool idea, will have to try it.

They work well for cleaning your iron too, (though I use new ones, I will have to try and see how used ones work) Just iron over it, I usually put a rag towel underneath it too, to protect my ironing board cover.

OH, I forgot to say, less time dusting means more time for sewing and everything will stay so clean, Hubby will think you dust everyday. :-)))
