We had a record breaking earthquake here in Oklahoma last night. It was 5.6! The epicenter was about 40 miles away from us. The whole house shook, windows rattled, etc. I was at my sewing machine when it hit, had to stop sewing. We are used to tornados, not earthquakes! Have a great day, everyone! Hugs, Tammy

I hope no one who was in it experienced any major damage other than to the nerves. That is a whopper of a quake in that area. My family is from the OK area.
Good luck feeling comfortable to go back inside buildings, high rises (if you have any) and such. Hopefully this is a one time event and you go another hundred billion years before the next one!!! I live in an earthquake prone area, and still find them enormously disturbing!!

Relieved that you are OK. I really cannot imagine what it must be like to live in areas with weather conditions like tornados. Sarah from a very sunny South Africa.

I live in Cal. and when the Northridge one hit many years ago , that what a great jolt.. well we had neighbors swimming pools actually pop out of the ground and you could actually hear the ground roar and it shook everything.. pretty scary for someone not use to them in Oklahoma..
glad to hear all is well..

Yes, I know what you mean! My house shook for a little over a minute, kinda hard at first, then slowly eased off. I didn't feel the ones early sat. morn., but did this one. Hugs & **'s for you, Susan. Tammy

Not enough time to answer all of you individually, Flowers to all, & thank you for the kind words. The shaking was a strange feeling, but no one was injured, & slight damage to minimal items, so we can be thankful for that! Thank you all! Hugs, Tammy

Are there more earthquakes around the world or are we just more aware of them?

There are more earthquakes. I'm a geo-science buff, and have been following them. This is definitely a change.

We had a 3.3 here in the Adelaide Hills a few weeks ago and that was bad enough. Hate to have anything stronger.

We moved from Calif. 15-20 yrs. ago. Thought we were through with earthquakes until last night! A pretty good shaking even this far north of the epicenter.

We had a 3.2 last night that woke me up. Being in California, I'm used to it and I went right back to sleep. Yours was definitely bigger!

Thank you, but you know, we have had a lot of quakes here in the last few days. Don't know why, -over 1000 in the last year!, most in the 2's & 3's. I guess this was the big one, Ha, Ha. Hugs, Tammy
