Question? Not embroidery but looking at buying a snap press, I have been using the spool method to attach pearl snaps and wish to get a tool that works.

I have the pliers by Dritz but it's a hit and miss mostly miss attachment.

I have seen some impressive tools online starting at $65.00 and want to make a wise purchase already spent $25.00 on the Dritz which could have gone towards the press instead.

My hubby needs shirts so the press will be well used. Hopefully someone here has one and can steer me to the right press. Thanks...Lucy

Thought I'd also add that Australians can buy the KAM press from www.snapsaustralia.com.au

If you do buy a KAM snap press you'll need to make sure you buy the dies for attaching metal snaps and that they have the correct shank type for the press you choose (either threaded or smooth). I use my DK-98 to apply size 20 plastic (resin) snaps so have smooth shank size 20 dies. It's a time saver if you're going to be applying a ton of snaps .. I love mine. :) xXx

Thanks for posting about this. I didn't know about snap presses. Looks like it would do a nice job and the snaps look good too. The KamSnaps website even has pacifier clips. Good site to know about for future use. Marcelle

please share with us what you choose. I agree with you that the spool method is more of a joke I have an unlimited supply of snaps and never use them because they never work right even when I do get them to stay on. I have banged them to death and warped them out.

Me too my hubby watched me battle the spool method and he was the one looking for a different way of attaching the snaps we found the pliers but it doesn't do the job well and after the attachment I was still using the spool to try and set it in better. Not fun at all!

I use a snap die press similar to the one at kamsnaps.com.If you are doing a lot of snaps then it is well worth it - I manufacture plenty of onesies and baby bodysuits. You need the force of the machine to make the snaps hold properly and you work far more quickly.

CAN YOU SHOW US WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE PLEASE?????/CAROLYN

I know the pliers doesn't do the job right and the spool and hammer cracks the pearl top, so the only other option is the press, I found two so far that may work I imagine they all work the same way, just want to make sure the quality is there too, not something that will break.

Thanks

I just checked on the internet to see if company was still in business. For many years I brought from Bee Lee.

I have had pliers for years and didn't realize there was this kind of tool. I used to have to replace snaps in my kids sleepers and onesies, etc. Didn't have problems. But this looks like it would be really good.
Good luck!

I just went to the site & looked, & read, couldn't find where it works with metal snaps. Do you know if it works with metal ones?

I think I had the same trouble finding that out too...
