My experiences with computers.. if something doesn't work, try always a reboot. Lots of times this helps !
I have used both wired and wireless and it doesn't seem to be the mouse, the computer locks up and the cursor won't move. Next time push your "window" key, it is between control and alt, if your start menu doesn't come up the computer is locked up and you just have to shut down and reboot. I have this happen so often I could scream and my son has been here and looked it all over and said I basically just have to deal with it.
Thank You for this hint. It is so good to see you back. How are you feeling???
If it is a wireless mouse you use the battery might need to be replaced. If you get a new computer you can use your old one as a back up. A couple times I've had to get a solution to get my computer working again by using the back up one.
Every thing is working again. No it is not a wireless mouse. I don't like them.
Lyn, my dear I do understand fulling - what you are dealing with and how had it is to live without a PC - I learned the hard way - just last month - I must have had a power surge or the PC was hit by lightening or something - we lost the power supply - the monitor and the surge protector - we had someone that helped us get a up and running again and I can't tell you how grateful for that - I was working off of my DH PC and he hasn't all the programs I need to do what I do in a days times - I was runing back and forth from his PC to mine in different rooms all day and half the night. But I have to say - inspite of alot of a lot of things - I did have some designs on a USB stick and I produced alot of projects during that time. I wish you well and hope that it doesn't happen again.
Yes it is amazing how much we depend on technology. Not too long ago in order to call Europe from the USA one had to make an appointment with an Operator, connections sounded like the ocean and were horrible and after one had to empty their savings account to pay for the call. Now there is SKYPE. I would be lost without a computer.
I have a mouse 'without a tail' and the battery died on that one. That, silly me, was NOT the first thing I checked.
I did go into a panic. A few months back my middle son tried to do some work on my computer, and told me it would make a good door stop and I needed to get something better. So I did as suggested because my other 2 sons agreed with him. I thought I had transferred everything, but when I tried to use Font engine on embird I didn't have the registration number. No problem, I just set the old computer up and turned it on and sparks and smoke shot out the back of it! I have never turned something off so quickly before!
Luckily I found I had recorded the required code somewhere else so all is well now.
Any one need a good door stop? I have one to give away.
Cheers, Bev.
I believe these challenges happen to try us to the full and when we are able to solve the problem,we feel really good. Just think it was only a little over a decade ago that we were relying on books and mechanical sewing machines.
