It would be awesome if there was a food bank list that the folks could contact when that happened. I hear rumors that the Angel Food Network went bankrupt. I don't understand how the situation happens in the first place. That's a lot of money that someone just 'threw away'. :::::confused:::::
These are individual truckers who just have to do what they can when the situation arises. Most try to carry a list of food banks, but truck stops have huge dumpsters for that very reason.
My ex was a long haul driver contractor (we owned the truck, leased the trailer) and on one trip the received got all hopping mad because he said we were short a pallet of frozen peach pies. We counted and counted and could not come up where they had gone so had to pay for them as they insisted mistakes were NEVER made on their accounting end. He was very rude and not easy to work with. On the very next load we were 4 pallets over as they counted them coming off the truck. The man scratched his head and said "well, go ahead and unload them and we will figure it out". My husband closed the doors to the truck and said "Nope, they don't belong to you, because your accounting team NEVER makes mistakes." We took them home and filled our freezer, our family and friends and then donated the rest. Every one got peach pie! However it did not happen often and I can't imagine a whole load of anything! Good for your Ex. I hate when places say they don't make mistakes. Hope those pies were really good....
I think you got the answer! Good Luck with all those eggs! Live Lauhg Download Stitch!
I HAVE ENOUNGH FRIENDS FAMILY AND CHURCHES IN TOWN EVERY ONE WOULD BE EATING OMLETS
Wow I'd love to have some of those steaks. Yummy. As for the eggs, that's a lot of eggs to deal with but I'm sure there will be a lot of people who would love to have them. They are about $2.00 a dozen here and probably more other places. Just wondering who pays for them? Hopefully not your cousin.
My cousin doesn't know either who pays for them. He is just hired to transport.
All I can say is I wish I was related to your cousin. If I was given more than I could use (before it spoiled or got old) I would donate it to a food bank or soup kitchen.
There are many in need right now and eggs offer a lot of protein so they would go to the shelters and food banks. Definitely would not want them to go to waste. Our church would also make sure they went to the right places. I wish you Aunt lots of luck getting these delivered.
She works for the county in their food assistance for the needy, so I'm sure that not a single egg will go to waste. That is just a lot to distribute all at once.
That sure is a huge load of the same item - but just as you - I would jump at the chance and do what I could to fill up every freezer of my family and friends with the goods and of coarse the rest would go to the local food bank and they would be thrilled with it. If I had to - I would park close to a grocery with a sign that said "FREE" and hope many stopped by and with relief that they wouldn't have to pay for that at the store.
He has done that before. Set up in the parking lot at WalMart and gave away a truck load. That was when he had grapes, and WalMart refused them because they were "over-ripe". Not a single unhappy customer that day!!
WOW what a giant Pavlova that would make!!!!! :-)
Sorry, it was the first thing that popped into my head.
I honestly don't know where I would store them, let alone what I would do with them. My Goodness that is a lot of eggs.
Funny you should say that. The world record setting omelet is only about a quarter of the eggs. I think it would be a fun community event!!
