Sorry yours did not work out. I cancelled 2 of mine this year because they don't advertise. Don't give up, keep trying. Better luck at the next one!
I am sorry about your disappointment. Hopefully your next one will be a top one!!! I am doing one that will be on the Sat.& Sun for 4 consecutive weekends. It is well adertised. Last month I did one at the same venue and I did quite well. Hope you won't give up. I have also had very bad times at the markets, but I persevere. Lots of hugs and flowers.****
SO Sorry to hear this. That is so frustrating! After selling all those tables and getting all you wonderful crafters there to sell oyu beautiful stuff they didn't bother to advertise properly to get customers to come. Word of mouth will ruin next years craft show for the sponsors. Its to bad they don't think of these things before hand! Upsetting your vendors is NOT a good idea! I wish you luck in any other craft shows you have yet to do!! :D

Sorry to hear that.. I know how you feel. I did one last year in October OUTSIDE! I'll never do anothere one outside. You can't tell about the weather. It was an awful day and I packed up early, even though we were supposed to stay until the end. They had their money for the tables...
I'm doing one this coming Saturday... the first time I've done this one. It is at the High School and benefits St. Jude Hospital and the sports team.
I have everything priced as low as I can....
There are lots of craft shows now before the Holidays and maybe you can get in on one and sell the rest of your stuff.

So sorry to hear this Mary. As you say, perhaps another place, another time.....
I also had a table over the weekend (first time ever and was not sure what to expect). Did not sell all but very little left and am satisfied with the outcome. Having said that I need to mention that I had one or 2 orders from the market and now that they have seen some other stuff I've made I can not cope with the orders coming in. Very tired as I still have a full day job. So am doing it in the early mornings and at night. Am trying to fit everybody in as I would love to build up a bit of client base. One never knows I might have to rely on it in future.
Sorry for it being a slow show. Mom and I did one this year and it was really bad for all of the vendors (the two ladies across from us did not sell one thing all day). We did sell enough to get back the booth fee but not much more. My friend says you just never know how it will go - what will sell, what will not etc. - believe she is right.
I had the same experience, did sell, but at a bargain price and even than some will not buy. think it is all the cheap imports from China. I did it for fun, but gave up as I realised that I was working for nothing and was costing me money as materials are not cheap. The recession will not help either, people sit on their money if they have any. good luck whatever you decide to do.Hugs edith
Dear Mary, So sorry that it was a dud. Hope you can still sell your goods. Hugs Yvonne
Sorry you didn't do as well as you had hoped. Maybe next time. Here's a *4U so feel a little happier.
Mary, so sorry to hear this - I was so hoping that it would be a good weekend for you. If we could only get on our soap box and tell the world that we have best of our craft - that we spent many hours working to create something lovely - maybe they would stop and purchase something for us. The hours one spends to get ready for something like that - to just come home with the table paid and some extra - it is so difficult to fathom. I have only done a FEW in NC and even though I made more in one weekend than I did in a crafter's mall over several months - I was terribly disappointed with it, myself.
Sorry about your show Reaaly I have been there.
We were among some of the lucky ones this past weekend here in Arkansas. We have been doing this show for over 15 years now and it is our favorite. Sales were up over the last 2 years by over 40% but for comparison with the years before that still a bit low. We have a certain following that look for us every year and plan their christmas presents around us so that helps. But it keeps us on our toes to make sure we always have something new for them. Do it for the fun and enjoyment of your craft and not about the money and you will always have fun regardless.
I agree. Although I currently have much to do I still enjoy it and would not accept if it becomes a burden.
The craftshow I did last Saturday is in its second decade. In the beginning, there were many buyers ALL day long. The show still has a variety of quality made items but the crowds are not coming like they use to.....not even to look and "get ideas". Financially I came home with a few jingles in my pocket but not as well as in previous years.
I have another one this weekend that I have done for a few years. Hope it goes well for me...if not, I will listen to DH mumble alot....!!
I agree with sqdancer...there is competition with the commercial stores......our quality items verus their's which is not. Sewinhuggs has good advice too. We love making our items and want to $hare them. Hope you are more successful next time.
I am sorry your show didn't do as well as you hope. One of the things I use to do before applying for a craft show is if it was near me, I would go and check it out first. To see if I saw customers were carying bags and what tables they were buying from. Then apply to it the next time it came around. If it wasn't near me then I would check it thru a website call craftlisters.com and see what type of reviews it got. I just hope this show didn't discourage you from doing others. I wish you luck on your next show.
Smiles

Been many years since I did craft shows, they used to be so great, you never had enough stock - then the $Store came along and Made in >>>>> who knows where and people just weren't into paying what it we ask for handmade...do hope the next one works better for the Mary ...Hang in there Hugs x0x0x0
Gee I hate not being able to go back and edit messages in the new site...always hit the Submit before I read over what I have written, hopefully you can make out what I am trying to way Mary...
I had been wondering about you. Sorry it did not do as well as you hoped. I hope the next one goes better. Marcelle
So disappointing for you I am sure. I always say that doing a craft show is like buying a lottery ticket, you never know if is going to be a winner or if it will be better luck next time.
I am sorry to hear it did not go well. One really never knows. Maybe next time. Hugs to you Angie
If you do another show contact the radio people and see if they can mention it on air for you. Wishing you better luck at the next one.
Sorry to hear about this, maybe you can think of it this way... You will some already for the next show. Hugs DeVon
I don't know where you live but I find in England most Craft Fairs are the same people just look but don't buy and we all put so much work in.
Seems like that in USA too. there's usually one or 2 tables of things that everyone wants...others just sit there.
