There are oodles and gobs of bag patterns out there. Here are two of my favorite sites. There are dozens of free patterns on each of these, and some are very creative and nice!! Good luck!!
I have no idea about the patterns since I always cute out the size that I need and go from there. I do not really do a lot of big bags, but make ballet shoe bags and lingery bags. They are very easy. I see, however, some of our cuties gave a lot of names and I am sure that there will be something for you. HAVE FUN!!**

As someone who never uses a pattern for anything I would suggest you do a Google image search for fabric bags and you will get loads of inspiration.
It sounds like a tote. I don't know of free sewing ones off hand but I'm sure there are cuties that do.
I would search for free sewing tote patterns online.
I bet there are tons of them.
If you want ITH designs A stitch a half has many totes but not free.
