Silly question... Is it ok to embroider on paper or thin card such as Xmas cards? I've even heard of paper being used as stabiliser?? Will the machine not get full of bits of paper? Will this damage the insides??? xx

Never a silly question. I've stitched many embroidered cards but I've still learnt tips from the other answers here. I cover the back of the embroidery with fine special stamping paper to match the design or the occasion.

I just stick another layer of thin card behind the embroidery.

if you have a design that is to heavy for paper, you can stitch it out on material, fray the edges, put a little glue on back, put it on the front of your card, then just stitch around the edge. you will have to put an extra piece of paper inside to cover the stitches. It turns out real cute.

No question is silly. We all learn something when questions are asked. Thank you for asking. Sarah.

No problem! Hoop some tear away stabiliser and lay your paper or card on top. Handmade paper works particularly well. Don't forget that you can only stitch redwork type designs. Anything denser will just mangle the paper! Have fun and enjoy.

Я тоже вышиваю на бумаге.
На трикотаже и шелке.

I also embroider on paper.
On knitwear and silk.

Yes you amy embroider on card stock. Paper, since it is made of wood, will dull your needle faster. Tissue paper has been used as a stabilizer especially with slippery satin fabrics. There is less lint with paper than with cotton or even polyester so the inside should be fine! Live Laugh Download Stitch!

Also, designs for paper & mylar have fewer stitch holes than for fill, fsl or applique. An even spaced fill for mylar works well for paper. Be careful of satin stitching as it may cut completely through. Live Laugh Download Stitch!
