Well cuties christmas is but 28 days away and it is time to start decorating. How long do you take to decorate? I am a christmas nut, it is my favorite time of the year and not for the present but it is my time to decorate my home in a special way. I have a christmas village with about 65 houses (had 75 but gave some away) that I have collected over the years and I have 3 themes, santa village under my tree in white, country village and city village.

This year I am in a pickle because I have a few health problems that will limit my time and I just can't convinve myself that it is o.k. to do less. I usually spend 2 weeks putting things up. Is that excessive or do you spend that much time as well?
Sending along a couple of pics of my village
for you to see.
Hugs
Michelle

Thank you Dilceia
Coming from you and what I have seen you do, I take it as a compliment, what you do is the type of work I dream of doing, I do it on a smaller scale,

My mom and dad decorated their tree and then got to tired to take it down ...but as February rolled around and the tree still sat it their bay window..:D They decided to just drag it into the front bedroom and throw a sheet over it. When Christmas came around again Presto instant decorated tree. Worked for them. We have 40 years of wonderful decoration and dishes too. I now trade out the everyday dishes and use the Spode all month everyday. We make an effort to use and enjoy everything. I love the decor too.

Lots and lots of patience, the details are very important to me and everything has to be perfect, scale etc. I improve every year and never do it the same from year to year, takes
time to plan.

This is so beautiful. Just put it up and never put it away. It could be a year round joy.

This is not the kind of thing that I could leave up all year (I do not mind it but DH is another story). It measures 24 feet in total
is placed in a u formation so it is quite
big.

WOW! Did I mention, WOW! Amazingly beautiful! Who needs a tree? I'd rather have this in my living room myself. :D
I need to be in the mood, and the mood has not struck me yet, lol! It feels like a chore if I'm not in the mood to do it. Mauybe the mood will strike soon. Hopefully sooner that later, lol!

I can certainly understand why you hesitate to part with these - sometimes, we feel overwhelmed until christmas gets nearer & nearer, then we find the energy at the last minute. My mom threatens not to decorate year after year; but changes her mind as the holiday gets nearer, she is now 91,still decorating her apartment,hehehe.....

Good for her, I hope that I can still do this
when I am her age because I truly enjoy it so once it is finished.

They are absolutely gorgeous. I have a few houses but nothing even compareable. I do enjoy just sitting and looking at them at night with the lights all off. I love anything fiber optic as well. I hope your health issues resolve and that you have a joyous Christmas!

I started with a few and soon ended up with
75. I make alot of my scenes, mountains, rivers and I even made a ski hill with lights on the lift. Having problem with an arm and leg so it is hard to work for long periods of time,

Your village is just beautiful. Since I was ill last year I just put put up a small tree and a centerpiece on the table. I decorated less but only used important pieces. My tiny train came out and the house still looked cheerful. I am planning on selling a lot of the decorations on Ebay. Let someone else enjoy them now.

I am extreme in that I think go big or not at all. Hard for me to limit myself when I love xmas so much. I love to sit in the dark at night with just my village lit up, it is the best natural sedative there is.

Oh how lovely - I too have several of the Christmas villlage houses and etc, but have not put them out for some time. I also have SnowBabies which I have collected over the years. Each year, as we age, I get smaller and smaller with the decorations. DH had me go to a smaller tree last year, and I only put my very special ornaments on that. This year, we will most likely be down 2 of the grands, and that makes it even smaller group to be here. We have gone to where we had 18 here for Christmas day, down to 8 or 9. Quite a difference from years gone by.

Last year took the plunge and gave away some houses to my niece because I just don't have the room anymore. They age factor hasn't hit me yet(although today I feel like I am 100) and maybe when and if the grandchildren come along it will be a new motivation for me.
