Get some guarantee all pieces are there. I've seen people buy brother machines without the embroidery arm, and another one that had missing pieces. You need to be assured it is in good condition and all parts are with it. Other people I know bought machines there and had great success. I own the ULT2003 and love mine but bought it new. Good Luck, just be very careful.
I was thinking of selling my Bernina on E-Bay but I was afarid I would send it and not get any money...the other thing is E-Bay's selling fees. I'm just a chicken. Anyway best of luck!
Hi Mary,
Just as a example, there is a auction up right now for a Bernina 640 being sold by "Sercayn" with No feedback. On the auction it says the location of the seller is The Great Northwoods in the US. He made his auction sound real with pictures also. If you check further by clicking on his name by the 0 feedback, it shows you that his location is actually in Turkey. That is one to stay away from.
I've bought several machines from ebay & have had good luck with them. But you do need to be careful.
Don't deal with someone that wants you to email them at a email address outside of ebay. If you do, ebay won't protect you if something goes wrong.
I always pay thru paypal so you don't give the seller your personal info. Plus paypal can help also if you have trouble.
Their feedback is very important. A scammer just has to open a new account if someone catches on to their scam, but their feedback starts over at 0. That is probably why Fanny had troubleselling hers.
There is a seller in England who is getting out of the business & has been ~selling~ the same design library for the last 3 years. Every few months the same auction appears just a different seller name.
Just remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it's probably a scam. Stay away from it.
It is a bit scary, that first bid!! But I knew what to look for and I spoke to the seller on the phone and she seemed genuine. Also she took it to a Pack and Send company, so it arrived in good condition.
I just had a machine listed on ebay and it did not sell. I said to my husband that I thought it might have been because I had never sold anything on ebay therefore I have no feedback. My husband dismissed this notion. But reading everyone else's answer here I think I might be right about that.
I got my 3100d (same machine as ULT2003d) off ebay for A$1500. It has taken 6 weeks, a visit to the sewing machine Dr and another A$250, but now it is perfect. (touch wood). xx
Hi, I bought my ULT2003D on eBay from an individual who had purchased it from a dealer who was going out of business. IT was missing lots of pieces. and it took a while to get it going just right. I think the fact that it had been a demo was the problem. I wouldn't pay more than $700 for it now. The best thing to do is take it in, get it tuned up and buy the $400 service policy. That will be worth its weight in gold thread! I LOVE my machine, now that I have all the parts, and it sews like a dream. Good Luck - if you'd like, I'll look at the listing and give you my input.... I bought my very first machine on Ebay and had no problems, that being said make sure you check the sellers feedback and check out other sites to see what the machine is going for at other places.
Mary,
I have bought a lot of items from Ebay, but not a machine. As, "theduchess" stated, checkout the sellers feedback. I prefer to buy from an individual, rather than a dealer, not just because of
possibly lower pricing, but you can ask enough questions from an actual owner to know, or get the feel/vibes as to the true "condition" of the machine.
Another thing to do, before bidding on Ebay, is to check around different places to know the approx. cost of the used Brother ULT, so you do not overbid what it is worth. I would not hesitate to buy from Ebay, as I have not had any negative experiences, so far. Do a search on used Brother ULTs to see what different sites may be asking for that particular machine, to give you a general idea. Then ask questions of seller on Ebay to feel more confident, before bidding. Good luck!

Depends on the seller. Look at their feedback see if they have good satisfied customers. Ask for item to be bubble wrapped. You are protected by EBAY and Paypal.I sell on ebay and have 100% positive feedback after 5 years selling.I bought several machines on Ebay no problems.
