Yes.... I recently had a solid three-day stint of unzipping and filing - and that's the Second Time This Year that that's happened ... :}. It was the best feeling when I finished but the 'very best' part of it all was that I found beautiful designs that I had bought to do Christmas pressies and had forgotten about. Now it's too late to work on them but they are there for Christmas next year.
I've tried hard to keep up since then. Well, it doesn't work for me as I always seem to veer off on another tack after that elusive perfectly gorgeous design that I didn't know I wanted and definitely didn't need.
Also (and I'm almost, but not quite, ashamed to admit it) I still have about 2.000 designs on a flash drive that I collected during my three-month holiday in AZ last Christmas, all safely stowed, zipped and ready to be unwrapped any time I have a moment to spare.... as if!!!!!!
I know I have some lovely designs but can't remember what they are!!! :{ No good keeping that job 'for a rainy day'...... we've had plenty of them this year and that policy hasn't worked. I just plough ahead, collecting my daily ration of designs to feed my inoffensive addiction and every so often think of my USB treasure trove of forgotten designs just waiting to see the light of day ......... one day.
Really, it's a lot of fun.

It sure is nice to know I'm not the only one!! It sounded like everyone had all theirs filed! I have tons to open. I d/l on my desktop and later I put them into a file for emb stick and later I move everything to a stick and take that to my emb. laptop and sit and open.
I'm far behind, so I quit d/l except for the daily letters here and some of DBC for now until I can get a little more caught up. Biggest problem is there are so many beautiful designs!!!!!
What I do is download them into their respective files but not always by digitizer. I have one that says CUTE EMBROIDERY, inside another file that say Carnival Font, another cute designs, DBC, etc. The others are a mess.
I taught my DH to open and extract files in my format and even downloaded a couple of conversion programs for him. When I get behind, I load up a stick and give it to him and he does the work.
I think it makes hime feel more a part of what I do.
God bless
I try to organize the donwloaded items immediately. Since at that moment I still know what I'm downloading. Also I try to have a picture of it so I can check afterwards how the design looks like. But I do not write down the digitizers name. So if someone asks; "oh that's nice; where did you got that" I can't answer. Should I write this down somewhere ?
Oh dear Im glad its not just me that falls behind. I promise myself every time I clear my "to be sorted file" that I wont get this far behind again. My lovely daughter helps me sometimes, I guess Im lucky.
I download each file under the digitizer's name. To keep Cute Embroidery digitizers one under the other, I have organized them like this:
1_Cute Embroidery_a...... (digitizer's name)
1_Cute Embroidery_b...... (digitizer's name)
1_Cute Embroidery_c...... (digitizer's name)
an so on. As the downloaded designs are not zipped, when I open Embird I can see all the designs one under the other. I also download the pictures that show what the designs look like, with their original colors. Of course, if the designs are to be unzipped, they remain unzipped until I remember to search for them .... LOL :)
Well, you all should know me by now - I'M SUPER ANAL! I file my designs straight away! Trev has a dig at me as I have everything colour coded in here and even hang my clothes in alphabetised colours. Sick, aren't I? I'm afraid there's no help - sorry just can't help myself! Even have pegs matching clothes! Oh! I had better stop. Love Chris
Chris - I am nearly as bad as you. My wardrobe is all in colours!!! There is no help for us you know :)
Chris, I L O V E you! My clothes are by colors, but not alphabetized....never thought of that.;)
Oh Yes I am still trying to organise everything and when I have done a batch I have downloaded many more ( some doubles as well!) so need to catch up!
Yes I also have fallen behind not too bad but I always say must keep up with this and then??? Hugs Sally
Once I actually caught up and was able to delete the names of all the designs listed in the download box, but that was a long time ago. What would I do with all my spare time if every download design was already filed? The other bonus is the surprise element of the content, with many designs to open.Barb
I download everything into a daily virus scan file and when I run the scan I go ahead and put them in their files. When I had been overwhelmed with filing I got caught up by filing for a certain amount of time (15 minutes) a couple times a day.
I am way behind. Sometimes I think I will never catch up.
Yes especially with zipped files that need to be opened ,they are kept in a special folder. Other designs which are in my format are easily checked & filed in the appropiate folder quickly.Sometimes there are so many freebies to download ,they just mount up
I must be a tidy freak. I am afraid that I file each time I download. With my memory I would not be able to find things if I left it. LOL.
I promised myself when I bought my computer it would not get in the mess my last one was. I was good for about 2 weeks. Clipart for digitizing is my weakness.
Yeah, I need a couple of uninterupted DAYS!!!!
Same here. Folder is called "to be organized". I feel too that this means I am organized because I can find the unorganized files. Ha, ha
I have been using my laptop in bed and it automatically downloads. So now I have tons to file. And the names most digitizers assign to their files gives no clue to what the design actually is. So then you have to look at each one before filing it. So I am right there with ya! :)
When I download sometimes I make a note if its a dog or Christmas bell or star or FSL ...that helps so I don' t have to check and open each one before filing.
all the time i swear never again and there i go heaps to organise.....soozie
I love it when I find a treasure trove of undiscoved designs! I do a batch system so I have these moments. Live Laugh Download Stitch!
I made the same promise to myself, and now here I am looking to download some more, OK I promise to do it tomorrow!!!!!
Oh, no, Emily....it never happens to me....N O T! I need a file on my desk top that shocks me every time I run my mouse over it to keep me in shape!
I am like you, I also promise to not to do that.... but guess what I do all the time and need to be doing that and not here. LOL DeVon
I have over 700 to file!
Egads! Try to file 25 or 50 a day. Sometimes I say to myself ...you MUST open and file ten downloads before reading my e-mail or going to cute!
I try this each day also because once I asm here , forget it , I am lost .
I've been working on the 2File files all day today... not certain I've made much progress.
Yepl happened a couple of times and then I (like you)
promised myself that each night I would make sure filed everything I had downloaded during the day. So far so
good I have been keeping on top of things.
Good Luck
Michelle
