An observation about bobbin thread. When I first bought my machine, I found some bargain prewound bobbins on Ebay. They were the wrong size, but I wound the thread on to my own bobbins. My machine hated the thread and it almost always pulled up to the top. (They have since found a good home with another Cutie!) Since then I have used Janome bobbin thread which is £6.50 for 800m. Now, I can get about 20 1000m reels of bog standard polyester thread for that price. Yesterday I stitched out two large designs using ordinary sewing thread in the bobbin (I chose a colour to match the background fabric.) They stitched beautifully although I did have to re-fill the bobbin more often as the thread is a bot thicker. Does anyone else do this?

I got some 'stuff' off ebay called Serafil 200/2 which was recommended as bobbin fill. Fantastic - until my machine was serviced & now it doesn't want to know!

Fluff is the main problem with using ord sew thread. I wonder if running over a wax disk/candle when filling bobbin would help? Not tried it. Agree sew thread can make designs stiffer.

I have a Janome and found that it objected to any thread other than janome. Would you sahre what the thread and who is the supplier. I'm in the UK too - it's always good to know of a good supplier.
Thanks in advance.

interesting. My new to me Brother 3100d (ULT2003) only likes Brother 60 weight thread. My Brother inovis 750 & 900 are both happy with whatever you give them. xx

My Brother machine was super fussy about bobbin thread too (green label only) but I changed the bobbin tension so I can sew FSL with regular thread - mind you it took me a year to get the courage to change it lol :) xXx

When I started I use overlockthread for the bobbin and regular thread when I need black in the bobbin (for silhoutte-designs). Now I have both colors in bobbinthread. The with is Brilldor Masterfill (10.000m) and for the black still have an old one from Madeira (Bobbinfill 500m; will buy soon a big one from Brilldor in black).
I love the bobbinthread cause I hate the winding of my bobbins and with the thin extra thread I can stitch much longer ;o)
Only for itH-stuff like bookmark I use regular thread in matching colors.
Greetings, Bettina

I did some time ago , I used lockmachinethread. That's less thick as sewing thread. But I thought I had to clean the bobbinn case sooner because the bobbinthread is smoother. Hugs G.

I've used sewing thread by mistake once or twice, before I kept the bobbins in separate boxes. (I now store the embroidery bobbins in red rings, the sewing ones in blue). I found the (filled) design to become rather stiff with the thicker thread at the bottom. I buy 10,000m cones of bobbin thread for a very reasonable price (€8.95) and that works fine for me.

I'm hesitant to buy any bargain bobbin thread in case I have the same problem as before.
