I do not quilt either, but I would hate to be without my walking foot. Great for several thicknesses of material. Sarah.

Once I used the walking foot, I use it almost all the time. It feeds the layers at the same speed. Its a marvelous thing to have when doing quilts.

I don't really quilt - as the others - but I have used mine many times - mostly when the layers are fairly thick and I want it all to go in the foot at the same time - so it doesn't bunch up when it stitches. Hehehe!

I use it for slippery fabrics that tend to do bad things under the needle, like bunch up!
The walking foot is supposed to make the top fabric layer move at the same rate as the bottom fabric layer. Very useful with certain fabrics.

I have the Bernina walking foot. I love it for fabric that crawls. It is especially good stitching on corduroy, velvet, velour, burnout crushed tricot, fake fur, fleece and silk and satin type fabrics. Great for stitching stripes and plaid fabric. I don't quilt, but I understand quilters love it to stitch-in-the -ditch.

My thoughts on this walking foot... this foot actually walks on the fabric, rather than move on the fabric.. I use it alot.. I use it when I make pot holders.. great product.. my Janome Memory Craft Pro 6600 has a built in walking foot.. great machine..

Though a little cumbersome, they work well. Make sure you buy the 'shank size' which fits your machine.

I love my walking foot ... I use it for more than quilting... it helps the fabric move at the same pace as the feed dogs .... I used it for all the stockings that I posted in projects.... It is the best foot that I own !!!!

I'm not sure, but have seen it somewhere. Will have to check it out. Never used one, but some say once they did, they use it a lot.

Great for quilts. Afraid to try it. Try a pot holder. Same concept smaller scale for practice..

Mary, I use mine mainly for quilting. I've added a site to show you. Love Chris

My understanding is that the walking foot allows the top and bottom fabric to move at the same pace.
I have used it for quilts.

I use my walking foot for sewing fabrics that have a stretch to them. It gives a smooth seam that I can't get with a regular foot. Mending and altering stretch garments can be done very nicely too with the walking foot.

I am anxious to see what other cuties suggest to you for the walking foot. I learn something here every day.
