wow this came from dec 2011 & it is lovely I think the satin edge it terrific Martine. Hugs Loralye
Beautiful, Martine, your changes make the sewing machine much easier to see, and I love the blue/white contrast, very elegant. Reminds me of some Delft tiles my friend brought me years ago. Beautiful pincushion, someone would be proud to get this as a gift, too! Hugs, Marji
Thanks Marji. I once did a bell pull in cross stitch, blue on white linen with designs from old tiles, children at play, as a present to my mother. Got that back after my father's death. They were in cross stitch but would look great as bluework too. I agree this has a bit of the same feeling. Sent you a PM.
Wow. This looks really good. Smart you to change the outer line. Very clever. I really love the Navy fabric too.
Looks great, you are clever to change the edge.
this is so beautiful colors and pattern are just a perfect combination....soozie
Love this pincushion! Love the simplified design, the colors and the satin stitch as a border. I would love to make it for one of my friends! Hugs, Lidia
Very clever...however, I'm having a senior moment regarding how you filled it after all the embroidery was finished..is there a seam in the middle of the back with the basting stitches..not sure what you mean by "stitch, baste, stitch...sorry to be so dense...but appreciate your clarification...would love to do this...Thanks!
I meant I stitched the back seam for about an inch, lengthened the stitch to a basting stitch, used that to within an inch of the end, then used a normal stitch length. I pressed the seam open, embroidered the lot, then opened the "basted" part of the seam and filled the pincushion.
Ahhh, now I got it! Thanks for the clarification...you are too clever! So glad to be a Cutie with Cuties like you and so many others....
This is striking. Did you say you are using this design to make a quilt? Will the quilt be of this bright navy fabric?
I wanted it for a quilted bookcover for a friend. And having done the pincushion I think I'll leave the beige coloured linen for what it is and use a bright blue instead.
Yes your pincushion is lovely in the blue and the book-cover will stand out also in a blue.
I love it with the satin stitches as you have done it- looks refined.
This is wonderful. Navy blue and white. High contrast colors make this pincushion really stand out.
I love it. Great work.
I like this stitched on the black - it is black, isn't it? It's a really nice-looking pin cushion.
AlmaG.
What tpye fabric did you use? It is nice and proabaly didn't take very long to make, is that right?
A cotton. The satin stitch has a fairly high stitch count, so the total amounted to 7258 st while it had 4174 st with the double run outline I originally had.
