T shirts [with a collar] and trousers are the uniform at our local hospital and aged care home. Hair pulled back into a pony tail would be nice, but not all oblige.
A nursing cap!!! I only see them in old movies along with starched white uniforms. These days its hard to tell a nurse from the ceaning staff. LOL
I started nursing in 1987 in a psychiatric hospital. Nurses at the hopital that I worked in had stopped wering caps about 2 years before that. The general hospital nurses still wore them but only for a year or two more. Where I worked as a student nurse we wore stripes on our colour which year we were in, the general hospital students wore there stripes on their caps.
When i was nursing (many years ago ) there was a research done (in holland) and it was found that caps carried lots of germs(so did tights) So that was one of the reasons that caps were abandoned. (And we were allowed te wear trousers!)
I am a nurse and for many years now there have been no caps. It's a shame because you work so hard for them, but I guess it's the times. Arlene
Just came home in between Dr visits and Guess what? I just saw a nurse at the military hospital and she had her cap on. Not many though.
My daughter works in the healthcare field, and she has not seen a nurse wear a cap for a really long time
