Ha, ha. That is funny. My German Shepherd is redecorating the tree with her tail but otherwise she is good. One year I made snowman from yarn and the cat thought they were pompoms (one of her favorite play toys). Nice thing about that years decoration was that nothing was brakeable.
Walked into a friends house and they had cloths hangers in a circle around the tree. It was their way of doggie proofing the tree after one of their dogs kept snatching the ornaments and running. Another family put their baby fence around the tree.
We keep our dogs out of the living room.. that is the only room with carpet and they think that room is for them to have a nice spot to potty.. dumb dogs.. as for the Christmas tree that is in the living room also.. one of our other dogs used the tree skirt for her potty also.. long time ago.. I guess they are just marking their spots.. I had to wash that skirt a dozen times in one Christmas ..
I will only say Oscar must have felt really "comfy" in your home, as I do not think he would have done this, otherwise!! LOL A compliment to YOU, as a hostess! Thanks for the laugh!

It could have beeen a disaster or at least very unpleasant! but I'm still giggling visualizing the dog... When we had a dog, he couldn't enter the lounge where we had the Christmas tree, as we had put barriers and one door was always closed. Hugs, Lidia
I will not imagine that there was a nice embroidered christmastree-skirt under the tree? Maybe better made one from oilcloth for next year :o)
Still smiling when I see this picture in my mind with your daughter running to prevent the dog piing on the christastree.... *lol*
Greetings, Bettina
Don't worry about that, what you have written is still clearly understandable! Hugs, Lidia
That is quite funny, and it will be an event that you will remember for ever. :) I always had trouble with the kitties climbing the tree. I would come home from work and either find every one of the decorations broken at the base of my tree, or one or more cats stuck in the top of the tree, tangled up in the light cords. We switched to the nice wrapped styrofoam ball ornaments, so then instead of them breaking, they became toys to chase all over the house. The tree always came down the day after Christmas!! Now I don't have any critters, but something in the back of my mind nags me to hurry up and get that thing down. :) My dog just plain ignored it...unless I put a care package of yummy smelling goodies under there, and then it was all over. No Way to win, so just enjoy the memorable moments. :)
30 years ago our indoor-cats were always very delighted when suddenly a tree was "growing" in the livingroom. They didn't break anything but love the lametta and we had to fix the top of the tree at the ceiling to avoid that they fall down with the whole tree ;o)

I hope it was a real Christmas tree and had no electric lights on it! I keep on getting this picture of the tree from Chevy Chase's Christmas movie when the cat got electrocuted, but still lived! Love chris
No it's not a real tree, never thought about the lights as they were plugged in.
