After all the time I've been away from my machine, I'm sewing again! Got a major problem though. I finished two of the embroidable teddy bears and started the third when my needle broke. I changed to a new needle and after just a few stitches it broke too. I've gone through a whole package of needles trying to get this darn bear finished. I have taken apart, cleaned adjusted, everything I can think of but the same thing keeps happening! The needle seems to be hitting the plate but I can't figure out why! Can someone please help me ? Tell me why the needle seems to move back enough to hit the plate and what I can do to fix it? Thanks

Timing is probably off. If you have a dealer nearby, take it in. Every time the needle hits, it will knock the timing out a little bit more. Sorry for the news, but unfortunately, these things are finicky!!!

my brother 3100 was smashing needles on the very edge of the plate. Took it to the dr & he found a chunk of thread in the works that I wasn't able to see even though I had taken the machine down as far as I could & cleaned everything. sorry, I can't offer a quick fix. xx

Make sure your stitch plate is back in correctly - I had this happen a couple weeks ago, and did find that my thread was binding on the spool - I had to change possition of the spool, and finally had to put into the thread rack for it to work right. I went through over a package of needles - too costly to have it continue.

Is your thread getting hung and the tightness is snapping the needle? Otherwise, I'v had the problem of needle hitting wrong place and had to take it for repair. Sorry.
