Some very interesting answers - I'll have to write some down to try (certainly won't rem. all) and can't mark this question since we can't use that function. Thanks everyone!
I am so happy you ask that question. Some wonderful answers and going to give them a try. I also use the glue sticks. I also use glue to patch a small hold left in a large peice of interfacing. Why waste it?
You could take your leftover WSS pieces with you and a 1" brush, then when you get there you can dissolve the wss in a jar, then you can apply the liquid WSS to your stabiliser (with the brush) and quickly attach your fabric.
Don't add too much water to the WSS, it needs to be quite tacky.

I learn so much here on CUTE. Thanks for asking the question. I'd suggest using a glue stick as opposed to any kind of liquid spray. The airlines question any kind of liquid. Have a safe and happy journey!
I use the glue sticks as my temporary adhesive. It holds it just long enough to baste in place and it doesn't gum up your needle or make the hoop dirty.
I use the school glue in stick form. It is purple but dries clear and totally washes out. I use it for lots of applique.
Why not the white school glue in the little bottle with tip--it's washable. Or there once was school paste in a jar for school projects. Also washable. Should fly okay. Maybe try that.
I have never used a spray adhesive on fabric but on the odd times I do applique I use a small amount of double sided tape which holds the fabric down and I am able to remove it easily without stitching over it. I always have loads of double sided tape but have not seen fabric spray adhesive where I live.
Me too - I use the double sided tape used for scrapbooking. It holds firmly also easy to take off when doing ITH projects where you do not hoop the layer.
Check with lingerie stores. They sell an adhesive that comes in a pump type bottle that is made specifically for spraying on the skin to hold up stockings, bra straps and such. It is not flammable (at least not the stuff I've seen) and works just as well as the expensive flammable stuff. Good luck.
