my best friend when it comes to unloved tasks is my timer - so devide your time to what must be done "now" and some fun time too.
Your gona make it, it is always
"same procedure as last year2

Ladies! I stopped many activities almost 2 weeks ago for
natural reasons:
a) had to bring my dear embroidery-machine for repair to the shop approx. 2 weeks. Since then I try to practice
patience
b) my twin-daughters became very sick in between; needed
the saved time to care for them and for all the doctor appointments
The girls feel a bit better now but......
c) now it's my turn obviously: I catched such a bad cold
it doesn't get any better. Still feel so weak but no my
left ear hurts a lot. I know what it could mean....
Two years ago Christmas-time I ignored all signs my body wanted to tell me, slept only 2 or 3 hours one night, became sick right in time at Christmas, tried to do all my duties (six children, 3 grands - family gathering at my place) and ended up with acute hearing loss; since then my left ear is deaf but have no money to spend Euro 5000 for hearing aid. Also Tinnitus constantly reminds me to take care of myself...
nothing is so important that you should lose your health in consequence.
Therefore: All you Christmas-angels - make yourself a gift too, take enough time, listen to your body - and take good care of yourself! Otherwise you will no more be able to take care of others. Love and hugs to all dear Cuties - I am wishing you a peaceful Advent and Christmas time - Maria
Hope you do better this year :o)
I know the problems with the ears when I have stress. At the moment I think about close the orderlist cause lats year I delivered the last lamps at the 24th!
Greetings, Bettina
Maria this is a very good point, Women are generally not very good at taking care of themselves. We are to busy taking care of everyone else.
I call it simple "BURN OUT". I get that way with my emb. reg. sewing and jewelry making. It's time to step back for a while....... but if you have customers waiting..... you can't. That is the reason I stopped taking orders.
From now on I do just what I want to do.

I think it happens to all of us when we get overwhelmed. I always say that I'm going to start early, but I never do. I never decide what I want to do until all of the wonderful digitizers start cranking out Christmas designs! ;)
Alice, it ALWAYS helps to know you are NOT ALONE, regarding this issue of TOO much to do! I have not done ANY Christmas shopping, because of other demands of my time! I feel I need to be cloned to get it all done in time! When I do get a free moment, I am so tired, I can't fathom doing another thing!! But, somehow, I keep pulling up my bootstraps and jump up to "GO" again! LOL Prioritize your to-do list, and delegate what you can to others (like, "Make your OWN dinner!") LOL That helps!!
Hugs,
Angel
Somewhere I read that one gal gives her family menus from several restaurants and then locks herself in her sewing room until her work is finished. That is one way we can take care of ourselves. LOL
I think it might be a case of "join the club". I try to focus on the delight on the recipients face, it's something for them and them alone and that makes it special. Late last year I knew this year would have health issues for me so I sat down in Jan and made a sewing calander similar to a Gardeners Calendar. You know, a monthly task master but it worked! Apart from the last minute orders of course .... "could you just .......?" Good luck. *
Make a list! I make a listv of things to do before I am aloowed to do anything else, but build in stops. My list today: Clean downstairs, have a drink and a computer half hour, clean upstairs etc. That it is the only way I get anything done!
Oh Alice, I am so glad it isn't only me. LOL!
I have actually postponed Christmas until the week after. I have chiropractor and oncologist appointments, I don't have any gifts bought or made, no Christmas food, no tree or decorations done. I have to drive to Penrith this week and spend at least three days at Ray's house to clean the stove and kitchen and make sure the house is ready for tenants and try to get Ray to actually be living HERE with me instead of only coming up for weekends.
All I really want to do is hibernate until it is all over.
The only thing that gives me any pleasure right now is digitising, every thing else is a chore to be dealt with.
Could someone please give me a kick in the butt or some Christmas spirit? (HIC!) LOL!!!
I don't know about a kick in the butt, I need one myself! And my idea of some Christmas spirit right now is peace (and quiet) and not needles on, or more likely buried in, the carpet. And to top it all I just got a telephone call that the windows and window frames on the first floor (second for Americans) will be replaced on the 22nd and 23rd. Furniture to moved so there's a 2 m free space for them. Guess what I'll be doing on the 24th!!
dows frames on the first floor (second for Americans) will be replaced on the 22nd and 23rd. Furniture in all 3 rooms to be moved to let a 2m wide working space. Guess what I'll be doing on the 24th!!
You have received so many comments and suggestions so that I don't have to! Only think that what you do will make somebody happy at Christmas!!! Hugs, Lidia
I too am in the same boat. I have cleaning to do, cookies to bake, 3 appointments that will keep me running this week,a luncheon to attend on Friday, Christmas shopping to finish, gifts to get wrapped and mailed, sewing to finish up, and I am having a big get together on Christmas eve at my house for all the extended family. all this with no motivation to get it all done!! Hugs, Mary
Same to me ;o)
Last minute-customersorders for christmas drop in the hole time. I come along with Anna's class today to the theater cause they need another chaperon. On ebay I purchased Anna's dreambed in an auction for a good price but with a 3hours-drive (have to pick it up this week and so much to do). This week Anna has 2 dates with the dentist and one with her orthodontist and so on...
And what am I doing? Sit here and hang around with all of you on CUTE ;o)
We are all in the same boat *lol*
Cheer up! Only two weeks and we got it. I will feel like this nice santa at the 27.Dec ;o)
Greetings, Bettina
That's easy Alice - don't turn the computer on! hahaha!!!! Love Chris
I have quite a stack of stuff to do yet, plus I am also trying to catch up on my reg. sewing so I can find a little more room in my sewing room so I can fill it up some more - hehe!
After "voicing" your motivation and focusing problems to cuties, you'll now have all the right moves to "get er done!". Good luck!
I am nearly done, the last 2 are in the machines now. It really does help to voice the problem.
Had those moments and just started with one and then the stack just got done. Since they are for customers just think of the money you will be getting. lol
I am getting there, I have 2 left to do. I should get them done before DH gets home from work.
I am getting a bit over whelmed also. My house is a wreck, my sweetie wants dinner, my daughter has me baby sitting the dog, My Christmas shopping is not complete , I have a special order that I have not even started on and I am cutting fleece scarves. i plan to sleep on it and wake up rejuvenated!!! Kay
Well Kay that does make me feel better, I don't have anywhere near that much stuff to deal with.
Forget that these are orders...This and remember this is just plain FUN!!!
