For any of you beautiful people who need a program to view your designs. The link below is for SewIconz, which allows you to view your designs through Windows Explorer. It's a terrific way to help organise your files with a click and drag feature. There is a 7-day free trial, and the program only costs $20. Hugs and flowers folks, have a fun day.

I have SewIconz - I have to admit it makes finding a design a lot easier. It works the same as far as i can tell as the iconizer plugin from embird, but SewIconz is a stand alone program.

I file mine in folders named for the site they came from. If they come in .zip file I open rather than save and only copy out the files I need. I use .jef too, so if they are not available in .jef i copy the pes files, along with any pdf, jpgs etc. Every now and then I batch convert. I also print out thumbnail sheets periodically of them all. I find each website designs are similar and tend to find them that way, they sort of 'say' who digitized them.

I do the same as the other girls with my folders.I unzip first and then convert to jef format before I save them in their appropriate folder. If you go through customizer you will be able to see your designs before you write them to card.

My folder are pretty much like everyone elses's (alphabets, animimals etc) only in some files I have sub folers telling me if its an applique, redwork, line drawing, clipart, FSL, lace, border design, candlewich, colorlines, etc.) You will find a system that works for you.

I pretty much do what joanie does. I also print out a color chart if I want a copy to browse through without the use of the computer. I have volumns!!! With alphabets I only print one out rather that all 26. Recently, when I name the design for saving I try to remember to add something to remember where it came from. Example: CE for Cute Embroidery at the end of the title. Also, you may be able to use pes as is instead of converting it. I have a Viking and can do that.

I have an embroidery folder, with categories, that I use AFTER I have converted the originals to the form that I use. I think that you have to unzip them first. There are lots of conversion programs- some are really expensive though. I have 4D embroidery that I was lucky to get for a really good price.

I use winzip, some designs come zipped in all formats and when unzip they go into a folder and I then choose the format I need. I then send the design to my embroidery folder I created. From there are sub folders such as children, alpha, bugs, etc... I also print off the design before I leave the site so I will have a pic of the design to know what I have and how it looks. I can browse my booklet to see what designs I want to put with others. Each has their own system and you have to find what works best for you. hope this helped your with your ? ------ *4U

With BuzzXplore (which I have) I am supposed to be able to change format and unzip all "on the fly" as they say. I unzipped a bunch of files at once (like 2000+), but then needed to figure out where each came from. Before, I had unzipped one folder at a time and then would place designs in special folders, ie: Have a folder named "Animals" inside that would be multi folders: Bears, Birds, Cats, etc., etc., But have to figure a good way to remember where designs came from originally. Hope this helps a bit. I am still trying to iron out niches... Not to say how far behind I am in it now. *4U ><>
