Nothing to do with embroidery. I need your prayers. It is just heavy on my heart that our son Ben "needs" a new service dog. I believe I have found the right place to get a dog, a 5 month old labradoodle, who would need training. The price is discounted as the dog would become a service dog. But, my husband just doesn't think a dog would work well in our household. (We already have 3 cats and two parrots.) Please pray that either God would touch his heart and take away his fears, or take this terrible desire away from me, to add a dog to our family for Ben. I just keep thinking how much another service dog could help him in his life. If we get a dog, it has to be because God has intervened with my husband, Ben's dad. Maybe God has something completely different in mind for us. It's driving me crazy and I keep dreaming about this dog!

Thanks, I know you would all understand. Maybe I'm just wanting another fur-baby.... Hugs, Jan

hope things turn out the way you would like. personly I think the dog can go together with the cats as long as they respect eachother. I know several people who have cats and dogs. I have a little dog myself. And I teached her to be respectful to a cat. My son has two cats, and even if my dog is not realy used to have cats around , it goes well when we visit my son. Because my dog is just looking at the cats but does not go them. And the same is for the cats. So I hope Ben will have a new service dog soon. Hugs, Gerry

May God answer your prayers soon and hope that doggy will fit in well. I am sure your husband just wants to be certain about a new addition and I pray that he will see the sense in aquiring this doggy. Good luck and blessings. ****

You will find the answer, just keep praying, Jan. Look at my miracle!! Their are plenty of "mixed" animal households across the country and I believe you have the love and patience it takes to make it work. The adjustment period may be traumatic to the kitties, but you can help them through that!!
Love you & many hugs...Vicki

God has your answer and I am sure it is the right one, so leave it in his hands and I am sure everything will be for the better.

I have 3 dogs and a cat. The dogs don't often interact with the cat, but she largely ignores them anyway. :) Not sure about birds, but don't see why a dog would bother with them unless they are hunters. Good luck with the decision. It is a difficult one when both don't agree.

Leaving it in God's hands is the best; that way things will work out for the best.
I'll keep you in my prayers.

Ben would love a dog. Will pray that the right decisions come your way. Training can be tricky if you have to do it yourself, but God will know what is right for you right now.

Miss you! Hugs....

Meganne, with all that is going on for you, I can't believe you took the time to post this adorable fur-baby angel for me. Are YOU an angel? I know there are angels among us, that we don't even know are there........

Ben holds a special place in my heart and is often in my thoughts. Please wish him a Merry Christmas from me, if I could afford to buy him a Labradoodle, he would have one already. So I send my prayers for one. hugs n love

I also have 3 cats and introduced a dog in the house 3 months ago. It has made such a change to my life. She makes that I have to walk every day and keeps me going. My husband was not too keen to have another animal, but now he is besotted by our Risky, who is an active labrador collie cross. I need to make sure he does not spoil her to much! I hope your husband can be persuaded to add a dog to your life.

See if the Labradoodle could be brought to your home to see how it interacts with the other pets. Kind of like a trial run meet and great to see if they all could get along.

I'd love to do that, but I'd have to convince my husband first. It's a 4 hour drive, one way, just to see the dog. I've never known a poodle - have you capoodle? I don't know their personalities..... Thanks

My Aunt and Uncle used to raise poodles (not my name that is all about cats that my kids nicknamed me for). The mix between the two breeds are very loving and easy to train. Good luck getting your husband on board for a road trip. Or you could pack your pets up and meet them half way. I'm sure something could be worked out.

Dear Jan, I am praying for you right now! Service dogs can work well with the feline fur-babies, but God has a plan and I will ask Him to show this to your dear hubby and give you the patience as you await God's answer! Prayers, God blessings and HUGS!! ro

Some places will actually allow a potential adoptee to visit a home to see how things go. Perhaps that would work. My daughter has a very well trained service cat (yes, they do exist) which was sent to her from New York. If the dog visited the home, you and your husband would both know immediately if it was going to be a problem. I wish you the best. Service animals do their jobs well, and when they know that there are expectations, they rise to meet them!!

Oh, Jan, I want to tell you my middle daughter has a Labradoodle, named Barley, and Barley is the most gentle, intelligent dogs I have ever seen. I have to dog sit Barley on occasion, when his family goes away, and I cannot tell you how well mannered he is! He is unbelievable. My daughter has asthma, so a labradoodle was suggested because they do not shed hair like other dogs. They do shed a bit, but not much. My daughter got Barley as a six week old pup, and quite expensive, but he is such a wonderful pet. From the labrador side, he is fairly tall, but has blonde curls from the poodle side. He feels like a soft teddy bear. You cannot make a better choice than a labradoodle! I love Barley!!

Will certainly be praying! From what I know about service dogs, they get along with other animals. If the cats don't bother the parrots, the dog won't either, I would bet! I have friends that take puppies & get them ready to become service dogs. Wonderful job! Here's hoping & praying one will join your family soon!!

Ben doesn't actually qualify for a trained service dog. Our last dog was a change of career dog, who was already socially and obedience trained. It will take at least 2 years on a waiting list to get another one of those, and none of them have the non-shedding fur, like labradoodles. The labradoodle has the personality of the lab, intelligence of the poodle, with the non-shedding fur - a perfect combination for us. My husband is afraid the dog would eat the parrots, when the fall off their cages, or come waddlilng across the floor and up the stairs looking for us.. Bless your friends, for doing that job!
