Congratulations, not many husbands would do that. Had you already boughten yourself a new sewing machine?
I wash mine - before I put them in the dishwasher, too. I do like your sense of humor, however. Hehehe!
I rinse in cold water with a brush the dirty dishes & put in the dishwasher. As there's only 2 of us, I don't run it for a couple days or until it's full! But don't want dirty dishes sitting there! I usually wash the pans if they are large or really bad! But don't fill the sink to do that, just run hot water & soap in them! Anyone tried that Dawn foam? I love it. Squirt some on a sponge & it'll do a lot of pots!!
I would hate to be without my dishwasher. I put everything in and my husband puts everything away. Works well for us!!!
I got a vacuum cleaner for Christmas. And I need one really because I just went thru surgery on my arm. I was happy this one was lighter and easier to use than the old one. But when I was putting the bag in the new vacuum I found my Christmas Present. He had got a necklace for me. it was so pretty. And I sat in the floor and cried. Sometimes I don't know what I would do without him.
I have a dishwasher story. When my 4 children were young about 30 yrs ago we purchased our first dishwasher. It sat in the kitchen where we had to walk around the box for weeks. My husband finally installed it the day before Christmas as he was frightened he would have to wash up on Christmas day (which is the Christmas tradition in our family for the males) Men!!!!
I would like to tell you this, I've got a - Walking -talking -cleaning dishwasher. and I can take him anywhere.(My hubby) LOL since I broke my wrist he do the dishes. We've got a dishwasher but my hubby says is quicker to do the dishes without the dishwasher. Love Marie
My husband does the dishes also, he washes them all up then stacks them in the dishwasher.
I got a broom once as a gift and loved it... I guess the gift is in the eye of the beholder...LOL
That is so cute. You must be very easily pleased, or you must have really needed that broom.
I can understand your story very well. Few days back my daughter broke our ladyshave. Since today is my birthday my husband asked me if he had to buy me a new ladyshave! I said that I was not the one who broke it in the first place and that these type of items are "common stuff" in our household. I also do not buy him a new raser for his birthday ?
So at this moment I did not get any present yet, 'cos I have to get it myself. I said I want embroidery stuf...
Maybe he'll hide some stunning jewelry in that dishwasher and make it a real present!
My dishwasher broke down a few months ago, I'm going today to pick a new one. Got to have it before company comes at Christmas!
I would tell him that you are not sure how to work it, and will have to watch him for a while to get the hang of it...like maybe six months or so. THAT could be a good gift maybe?? Since my husband is no longer working, he empties the dishwasher for me when he gets up of a morning. I certainly cannot complain about that. Since he is not able to get out, we do not exchange gifts at all. I hope your hubby enjoys his sewing machine. :) After all, he might even like it. You should follow through with that one....even if it is one of your old ones, just because. :)
Before I even married Peter I made it clear that household articles are necessities, not presents! I have never received a household presents. Having said that the last few years he did not buy me a present for my birthday at all! Last year I was so angry that I made a point about it. A few days later a lovely dolls house kit arrived. (I am still decorating the oustside of it) I wonder if I get a birthday present on my birthday this year (jan 5th)
I really don't mind getting household stuff for presents these days. I got a vacuum cleaner for my birthday a couple of years ago and I love it. I just didn't really want a dishwasher, because we wash the dishes before we put them in and I don't see the point.
Ours broke down last week :( Now it means I have to do all by hand and I can't stand so long because of my back, I have to do everything in shifts. Plan is to get a new dishwasher in February so will be thrilled when it comes!

GREAT! I love your idea! LOL! Do men have a gene that causes them to think an appliance is a gift? One year my husband told me the 4 new tires on my car were my Christmas gift ...My kids made certain it never happened again! Bless their little hearts!! Now he asks me what I want and do I want to pick it out! He is a keeper for sure!
I like your response to your very loving hubby!
We have an old dishwasher, but I have been blessed with a hubby who loves to do dishes! ( More time for me to embroider)
Hugs, Bonnie
I meet a lady a few weeks ago that called her dishwasher a cupboard for dirty dishes.
Quite frankly, I am grateful for 'ANY' appliance that saves me the bother and gives me more time for my 'hobby'. My kitchen is full of appliances. Went shoppng last night and chose a new whistling kettle for my gas cooker. One year I saw a kitten at the vet that needed a home (Toby the tree hanger) I got the cat and DH got a bench grinder. I was the one that got the best present. hugs Helen
Well, if it were me I would be happy as can be-can't live without mine. Many gals are not getting anything for christmas this year. I would take my
blessings where they come from. I also buy my own
toys and don't expect someone to know what I need or
want or we make a christmas drawing within the budget. So many ways to communicate.
I only use mine as a place to let them dry after washing, lol. Hubby asked what I wanted for Christmas and I told him I got all new appliances this year, don't need another thing. Asked him what he wanted, he thought for a bit then said, "For you to not be in pain.", awww, melted my heart. I like your idea of the sewing machine for him though, lol. I wish I had a bigger hooping but 4x4 will have to do for me.
LOL Alice, now all you have to do is teach him to use it or not!!!! Hugs Sally
One of my husband's friends gave his wife a waffle iron for Christmas and she threw it out the window. They were divorced the next year. True story.
This is Snap! He's two years old now, and everyone's favorites kitty. He is very curious and warms up to people fast. He's the one who gets on the laps of people who don't really like cats - or are allergic to them! Thanks, Ro
did you see the birds a few days back i made gfrom your site .I love them and make new ones every year one went to holland hugs carolyn????
Many, many years ago I made it quite clear that Christmas presents to me were for me and not the house. It is something my daughters have taken with them to their adult life. Hope your husband enjoys his embroidery machine
sewing machine for him seems only fair. A girlfriend got an iron off her hubby last xmas, I told my hubby if he did that I would iron his shirts while he was still wearing them. xx
