OK Cuties...help me! I have a 730E and didn't know a thing about it. WOW! I would love to have mine on if it has it. Does anyone have a 730E or 200? I would appreciate guidance on how to turn it on. ::)))
I like it if I have to change colors. If I am not going to change colors, I turn it off. I don't think it really makes a mess on the back, no more than jump stitches make anyway.
Some designs I leave it on...short jump stitches. If it is long jump stitches I turn it off. Guess this is a personal preference. I do trim as I go...as this makes a cleaner look when finshed. H&*
I love the feauture when there are only the few jumps. As soon as there are more you get a furry backside that is hard to shave, so as a rule I turn it off. I hated jumps when I had to cut them all, I hate them even more now I don't have to.
I'm not fond of trimming. But less fond of trimming after it's all done. So I do it as I go and don't always have to stop the machine. I use a long pair of tweezers to hold the thread so I can cut it close. All these posts have told me that if I had one that did it, I'd turn it off.
I have it also. I use to turn it off full time because it made a mess on the back. I now have a diamond it it seems to do better. Some things I will turn it off especially if the back will show.
it depends on what your are stitching. i usually take my applique scissors and trim the back. but as said before it can be a bother if there are lots oof thread changes in a small area. most time, I LOVE MINE!
I have a brother Quattro and it has this feature and I LOVE IT. It is part of why I bought this level of machine. The only time I see the auto-cutting as "bad" is if there are a bunch of colors right close together - but that is usually on something that I will be covering up the back anyway so it does not matter.
I have a Viking & I turn it off if the back is going to show even a little bit. If it's enclosed (as with a backing) I leave it on. It's very messy looking! Have also sewn on a Brother & it's just as messy!
I think you've just solved my mystery. My embroidery looks so much better at some times rather than others. It is when there are no jumps!!! I might just turn mine off too!! I do not mind trimming. Thank you for filling in that tidbit. I think I will turn mine off. Does that answer help you? I hope so!
I prefer to use this cutting application with my machine. I have a Brother PR 600 and it sure has saved me a lot of problems. I guess it is a personal decision.
Hugs, Bonnie
I like the feature and always put a thin iron-on pellon material to cover up al the thread ends.
I even have a manual thread cutter and if I think my thread is acting up, I stop the machine, use the cutter and then proceed again/ It has been a life saver!
When I bought my new sewing/embroidery machine I was happy to have this feature, but I discovered that it's a nuisance and switched it off. I'm happy to trim the front and back by hand. Hugs, Lidia
Interesting answers. Out of 15 responses, only 2 people don't like the cut jump thread feature. Thanks for answering. Lyn. xx
Mine doesn't but I stop my machine while it's sewing and cut the thread tails, then when it's done, I trim the back threads.
So a machine that cuts jump threads cuts both front threads AND back threads or only the back? Sounds like a useful feature to me :) xXx
Lyn, my Bablylock Ellegante2 has this feature and I love it. I alway trim the backs on my embroidery anyway. Hehehe!
I do not like it on my big brother, and did not find out how to turn it off, so I have to watch and stop the machine as it it going to the next stitch! really not good! but I still Live Laugh Download and Stitch! Little brother doesn't do this.
I wish I had that feature...maybe he only test the machines and that's it but I would love to have one that does cut the thread...mess up or not ;D *2U
Yes my Ruby does, and yes it makes too much mess on the back that you have to trim - I only use it when I´m embroidery on a something that the back isn´t going to show.
Yes mine does, but I have thought of turning it off when I am testing my designs for my website, Just to get a good idea of how the designs will stitch on a machine that does not trim them.
Yes and its brilliant. What a odd man but perhaps he doesnot sew much as he is busy selling
Love this feature! Perhaps your dealer is trying to sell you a machine without this feature! Don't let them...it's the best...that and auto threading!
Best feature ever as far as I am concerned. makes for a neater back on the embroidery. Suzanne
yes mine does and I love it, saves time and does not mess up the back.
hugs
Michelle
I would love that feature. I have used my daughters and she has this. Seems to speed up things. Most of the time the back does not make a difference, it's the front.
