I have not yet tried to embroider on jeans and, I am giving it a try tomorrow. What size of needle should I use for it? Help please!

I made a Capri some days ago and I use tear away stabilizer and my regular needle 90/14 and it worked perfect

I did the back of my dh jean's jacket with a regular 'univeral' needle and did fine. If your design is a little on the long side you may need to undo the seam in order to hoop it. Have fun

I just used my reg. needle but the jeans were lightweight. Worked fine for me

I think that the more important is that you change regularly your needleabout 7-8 hour so it is well sharp

so...are you supposed to change needles??? lol I've never changed a needle for embroidering on denim...or in fact, anything, for that matter. ok...don't shoot me, but I've never had a problem...unless I break a needle, then I change it........of course!

I use Organ embroidery needles... sharps. The regular jean sewing needles don't seem to hold up as well to the speed of needle punches and changes in direction as do embroidery needles...They are not made for embroidery (whether it was on my Baby or on my single needle Pfaff and Janome). I try and keep a universal type needles in my machine since I have a 6 needle machine... I have had great luck with 75/11 S (a lighter weight needle than most use on denim ... most use a 90/14 S or better). Regardless of whether I use them on denim, linens or pique knits (these usually require ball point needles) they have worked well for me and and not all that expensive (~$5 US for 10)!

I always use a 90/14, instead of a regular denim 110/18 and have not had any problems at all. Can't wait to see them!;)

Depends on the weight of the denim. For regular denim, I use a 90 denim, topstitch or embroidery, but for some of the stretch denims I have had to use a ballpoint. I use 80 on lightweight denims. Don't worry - you'll do fine!

I am rather new at the embroidery, but just did my husband's very heavy denim jacket on the back and used a No 15 jeans universal needle. Have used this on some other heavy things and it works very well with no needles breaking, on lightweight denim, just use a regular needle.

Not an expert, but I'd say a new denim needle. I've used a regular embroidery needle and it worked fine, too.
