this shows just two of the many sets of acorn hair slides and holders i have made this year for one of the local charities.

this one is actually called Acorns and is a hospice for young children. these will hopefully sell and make a bit more money to buy gifts for the children who may not see another Christmas.
the large acorn acts as the head of the ribbon that holds the hair slides i reduced the acorn useing sewwhatpro to bring it down to a better size to fit on the "leaf" slide cover.
I wil be makeing a few more different slides over the next few days and adding them as sets on a card that people can buy to add to the ribbon.
they are sewn onto felt and are really quick and easy to do. I use overlocking thread for these to keep the cost down.

Oh what a wonderful thing to do. I also volunteer for hospice and just maybe I could make some for them if they have a store...I work in the field so don't know if the main hospice has a store but sure will check with them.

Wonderful! The set is very nice! Forgive me for not knowing, but,,,I have short hair and my girls are grown and granddaughters live to far away, so,, how are they attached to the hair?

Hugs, Bonnie

they are barretesand have a metal spring at the back and when you straighten them the two parts open and then once you have enclosed some hair between the two parts you simply press down and the two sections lock together again. they are also great as book markers. you can find these in lots of stores but perhaps someone will know what they are called in your country. annie
