Question for my fellow Aussie cuties, what is Mylar called here? I sent my hubby to spotlight for some, ( I even had it written down for him so there was no mistake) and the sales staff passed him from dept to dept with no one knowing, one person even told him it was knitting wool, he knows I cant knit to save myself, so he didnt buy any, any suggestions, Ruth

The emergency fire blankets we get here are also made from Mylar. They're designed to be hung in the kitchen for emergency use, and when in the wrapper, are about twice the size of those moist wipes from KFC.. opened up it's about 1.8m long. I got mine from a camping shop for only a few dollars each. :) xXx

If you're going to use Mylar use the proper embroidery stuff for long-lasting satisfaction. It's worth it and I can guarantee washing and ironing do not affect its beauty - time, effort and money well-sent.
I have used it on fabric, as in the three poodle designs that got run on by invading mice (yuk!) and I've used it as a background for a rose stitched on card stock for a birthday card. Both projects were very successful.
I bought my Mylar from ..

.... and her postage time is very fast.

You won't get it at Spotlight.

Another thing I forgot to mention. Do NOT use the gift wrap.It is not suitable.
Mylar has been designed for machine embroidery. It is washable and can be ironed from the back.
The stuff you get from the gift shops, newsagents, Cheap as Chips and shops similar to this, is not suitable.

...could be 'Melinex" or "Teonex", or PEN film. Look for it in the gift wrapping paper section: it is usually the metallic ones. When you hold it up to the light, you can see through it!
Hope this helps.
