Here is a pic of my fruit cake before baking.

Does anyone know how to make an alcohol Glaze?
I thought a glaze would be a nice way to top it off and I read that alcohol glaze doesn't need to be refrigerated like fruit glaze, but I can't seem to find a recipe.
Can anyone help?

Found this Meganne, when I googled it as I was interested to find out more

Alcohol as a glaze - Many people will mix the alcohol with a little powdered confection sugar and make a rich glaze that is poured over the top of the cake when it's still warm from the over. The alcohol glaze will seal in the moisture and seep into the cake, adding to the flavor. An alcohol glaze is also a great preservative for a fruitcake.

When the fruitcake is completely cool take a cheesecloth and soak it thoroughly in the alcohol. Wrap the fruitcake in the cloth and then cover the whole thing with tin foil or plastic wrap. The cheesecloth will preserve the cake for up to three years or longer if you store the cake in a cool, dry place.

this explains all

Thanks Edith, I did read that one but I'm not good at guessing quantities when I haven't made something before. Maybe I'd better just leave well enough alone until I can practice making a glaze and know what quantities to use. LOL!

Nice job but I'll pass, lol. Just pour a bottle of whiskey over it and nobody will care, lol. Just kidding Meganne, I'm sure it is very tasty!

Meganne, this one looks good enough to actually eat, as I am not one that cares for this kind of cake....

Oh that is wonderful that you have learned how to convert design formats, but it was my pleasure to help out. The cake is actually quite yummy even though it was cooked a little late in the season. better late than never i suppose. :-))
