Well after all the coments I wonder have you bought? I have just shown my daughter the designs I like and had thought about buying. Her reply was well what are you going to use it for to the embroidery design and for in the hoop well you know I dont like toys like that... My money is still in my pocket and I am determined to get some of the bought but unsewn designs used this year and not be (too) tempted. Happy sewing
I was tempted to buy some of these (even after my disastrous smiley!) but I've spent way over the limit bu buying Embird. So I've had a go at digitising my own ITH rag doll. Mark One needs some tweeks but I'm dead chuffed with my first attempt. Head arms and body are one piece and the legs made separately and stitched on by hand.
Sue she really looks so cute. It prevents me from buying when I count and see that I have to do more than 5 hoopings (plus stuffing and sewing together!). So you have done a clever job ;o)
Greetings and happy 2012, Bettina
With making any toy ,I find the stuffing & sewing up the stuffing openings by hand ,the most time consuming.
I have made many of these designs.I found the hand sewing can be hard.Depends on the design you choose, dolls are easy, frogs are hard.I have also used my sewing machine to put them together. If you have any sewing talent I find this is the way to go.
Hi there
I have quite a few sets from here.. saving for a rainy day lol.. I have stella and the teddy bears..
Big hugs from London
Maria xx
I was so dissapointed when I purchased one, the instructions are Pants IMO. If I had purchased at the full price I would have blown a fuse.
I've had a go at the free smiley one today. I used the 4 x 4 design and increased it by 10% but it very difficult to turn the hands through and stuff. I used a yellow t-shirt to supply the fabric but it could do with something with a bit more body. I had a couple of other problems (one being that I cut the end off one of the feet while I was cutting them out) so I probably won't finish it.
Sorry Sue this has made me laugh. I have looked at getting one of these but there again maybe not
I made a ton of those smileys. Its murder on the hands to turn. I used yellow fleece
and used a turning tool, bamboo skewer and
whatever to turn. Then I made just the hands and feet bigger and it helped but still not easy.
I looked at those designs awhile back when the sewing club I belong to was making stuffed animals for children. But I never pruchased any of them. I just might have to try a couple of them. Thanks for letting us know about the sale. I would like to find the same type material as used on the bears. Do you know a good place to buy it?
They sure are cute-I made the freebie, it was kinda hard to turn it inside out. I promised myself no ordering til the new year. But....
Thanks for the input! I'm being careful where I spend my limited funds, too! Yep, I know, they sure are tempting, though 8-)
I have made a few of them. I have used my sewing machine for parts to put them together. But it is a lot of hand stitching. The dolls are real cute and I like the snowman.
THAT giraffe is just too adorable! But, I think I'd rather spend my limited embroidery time actually doing embroidery. Hers are really cute, though!
what kind of material do you use to make these? Betty
It looks like they are using either fake fur or minkee or fleece, kinda hard to tell. I discovered "shaggy felt" (I know that's probably NOT what it's called) at JoAnn's the other day - it's a third of the cost of faux fur and pretty convincing.
The sale has begun! They look like fun! Live Laugh Download Stitch!
I did the Monkey ( without the banana) He turned out so great but a lot of hand work . Have now done second one and everyone loved him. Wish I could buy a few more.
Thanks and *'s to you all! Some days my hands just don't seem to want to work ~ arthritis and just old joints, LOL! So, I was concerned about actually being able to get the things together! But, since I have a list about a mile long .... I might never get around to making them! 8-(
I have made the freebie smiley - yes you have to put it together by hand. I bought a bear earlier this year and three more this month (with the sale) but have not made any of them YET. So many projects and so little time....
I purchased a one last year - a sweet teddy - but, of course, haven't made him yet!! I also purchased two more this holiday - maybe, one day, I will actually make one of the three!! Does anyone else procrastinate like me? Hugs to you, Laura*
I do. I bought a geisha set at EmbLibrary years ago - never used them - still have a project on my list, but as you know, the way to hell is paved with good intentions. LOL
Same like me. Have bought last year in the sale Enzo (the green monster), Nick and Josy. After reading the instructions I found out that I must buy the instructions for the hair extra (was not mentioned at Josy and just very small down at the bottom of NICK).That'S not so nice :o(
Greetings, Bettina
Well, the way I figure it, I have the design and when I want to - I'll make it - hehehe, if I don't forget about it!! LOL!
She is in Germany so a bit of a time delay. The parts are done in the hoop, stuffed and assembled by sewing by hand. I did the doll Stella a while ago and its easy to do. Clothes are done mostly in the hoop.
I bought some of the dolls and have to admit that I was a little upset when I saw in the instructions later on that you have to buy the special-instructions for the hair extra :o(
Greetings, Bettina
Oh I just did my own version- basically I sewed ea yarn by hand. Now I know an easier way but prefer by hand to get a full head of hair.
I love the lobster. As far as I can see there are 12 parts that have to be sewn together by hand. But isn't he cute!
I downloaded the freebie and it's as I thought. You sew the parts ITH, turn them, stuff them, then sew the parts together by hand with a mattress stitch. Not too much work.
I have just bought some designs, after seeing your info. They are e-mailed within 12 hours so when I try one I'll let you know about the hand work.Jan
I have 2 of these, the butterfly and the free smiley face but have not tried them, will wait and see your anwser because I would love to try one of the bears or dolls to add to my baby baskets,
Hugs
Michelle
The doll is nice to add. No buttons for the little ones. But you do have to do the hair by hand. I enjoyed doing it. I made stella and gave it to my niece a few
years ago.
Oh Thanks for this link. I don't know if my brain would be able to make these, but I just fell in love with the little gray bear with the dotted bow.The little red head with the curls all over is sooo pretty. But since my stroke I have a hard time figuring things out.
I'm sure you'll be getting back to your old self in no time! I like that bear, too! Hugs and *'s, Deb
I too have been looking at these animals and the other designs. One could spend a fortune there its difficult to prioritise
I know the feeling! They're all so cute! I need more money and longer days! LOL!
