I have the husqvarns designer 1 and have never had a problem with it. Make a list of the 'options' that are important to you. Needle threader, auto thread cut, etc. then add your 'wants' to the machines you're looking at and put together a machine you'll be happy with. I'm not a fan of brother but haven't any real negative personal experience. I don't like the bottom loading bobbin on a bernina, to hard to get to. good luck

Sorry to hear about your machine. I have 2 Brothers, a Galaxie3000 and a PR 650. I love both machines and have used other Brothers too. It is essential that you have a dealer who you trust and is within reasonable travelling. I have the same journey as you. I think I would contact another dealer to see if it is usual to have the motherboard go so frequently in the time it has caused you problems. Good luck in your hunt for a machine

June, you more than likely are going to get as many reviews about machines as there are members with different machines. 1st off - who is the local embroidery machine dealer to you? How much can you afford to spend? What features are you looking for? What size hoops do you need for the work that you do or want to do?

That being said - I have a Babylock Ellegante2 - matter of fact - I have two of them - I love them - I generally do not have any trouble with them - that a minor adjustment doesn't take care of. I have a local dealer - well 1 that is fairly close - not the closest - but close enough for a 10-15 mintue trip to see him. My 1st Babylock machine was a Ellure - which was wonderful and never gave me any trouble - it cost just a bit more than what your repair bill will be - I traded up to the Ellegante2 - because of several features and I haven't looked back with any doubt or regret. My mother owned a Husqvarna Designer I and she enjoyed her machine without any trouble either.

OH - that is ok - you don't have to buy a babylock - but just so you know - most will tell you about the machine that they have - rather than anything else and there are large hoops for the Babylock machines, as well. Do you have a Janome dealer - if I remember - they have a great quilt feature. Hugs, Shirlene

No! I have 3 Vikings and they are the best machines. Everytime I get the newest (or top of the line) I keep the old one as I like to travel to classes with the older one. Of course the other machines are also great but I have had such good luck with the Viking. Juanita in Missouri
