I have the Baby Lock Ellisimo upgraded to Gold plus ...sister to the Brother Quattro...LOVE it! I especially love the scanner and camera...no problems with aligning and positioning designs at all...you can align to the stitch both vertically and horizontally..even stipple stitches on an 8x12 inch hoop...AMAZING, but it is pricy...but, worth every penny!
I have 5 machines.. I use the Quattro the most.. I love the fact that I can enlarge any design 200 percent.. I have a Brother 4500 and use it also I love the fact both have needle threading and thread cutting systems.. the Janome 9000 is a back up machine, may give that one to one of the grandchildren one day.. I have a PE180D my first machine for embroidering and a Janome 6600 for sewing and quilting.. also thread cutting feature.. all great machines.. what ever machine you buy, get an extended warranty.. well worth the money..
my embroidery machine is a Janome 11000SE and just really like it....auto needle threader, good lighting, edit screen, 3 hoops...4.3x4.9, 5.9x7.9, and 7.9x7.9....and I bought mega hoop-7.9x11.3. I like the way it stitches and the ease it does all kinds of embroidery work. Pricey but with the new 12000 out, you could probably find some good prices on some trade-ins....it is a dream of a machine....
Depends on your budget, I have the Ruby by husqvarna and am very pleased with it, the screen allows you to see everything so clearly and the automatic threader is a MUST. Nice machine, a bit pricey but it is great,
Good Luck,
Hugs

I have the lowest end Brother SE-350, it was all we could afford since it is just for my pleasure, I gift everything I make to my Mom, aunts and friends. I love the self threader but wish I could do larger than 4x4 designs. Other than that is suits me fine.
I have a Bernina 730 and absolutely love it. I love that you can go back stitch by stitch ( my previous Bernina you could only go back to beginning of the colour. I love the needle threader and it has a thread cutter. My only problem I have is that it will quite quickly tell me that the bobbin is empty while it is not.
Lique, I have a Bernina 640 that has those same features. I love mine, too! I would recommend it to anyone. Also, there is a setting for turning off the empty bobbin notifier. I have turned mine off for the same reason. Mostly though, the sensor probably has a small bit of lint in it.
I have two brothers - a "starter" 780D and a Quattro 6000D. I upgraded to the Quattro about a year ago. Most liked functions are: automatic thread cutting (jump stitches too), great needle threader, large hoops, and the "snowman" positioning.
I have two Janomes. The 350e that does only embroidery and a Janome 10000 that is a combination embroidery, sewing machine. I love them both. Both have needle threaders, the embroidery only has an auto thread cutter. I Had a designer I but it seemed difficult for me, probably because I was used to my Janome. I think tho that is a good machine also. I do not have any input on any of the others. Someone will come along with more info on the singers, and brothers. Hugs, Mary
June I have the designer 1 by husqvarna, just love it. The top of my list for functions are - needle threader, auto thread cutter (a must if your machine will do embroider) One of my favorite features is that if I set it for 'needle down' when I stop the needle stays in my work and the presser foot raises itself so postioning quilt blocks and seams is a snap. I also want a top loading bobbin. If it was a push in type I'd have to raise the sewing machine from the table every time I had to change a bobbin. Big no no for me. Have fun deciding and let us know what you get.
I also have the designer 1 and have had it for about 5 years now. I love all the features and have all the hoops to it. Love the automatic needle threader and the auto cutter. A blessing. It's a tough machine and well made. Good luck on your hunt. Also you need to find out what's in your budget. Sometimes dealers have used machines that people have traded in and you might consider that depending on what your budget is. Let us know what you decided. Roberta
