what kind of embroidery thread do you use?

My first lot is threadart, and I had to get a color that I didn't have locally (expensive - $7 a spool) of Hemmingworth (which I'm not fussy about). I also now have the 166 spools from metro. My machine has no problem with either.

AT first I bought all Floriani polyester, because that is what they had at the Embroidery store and I bought a whole set. Each spool though, individually was about $6 - but what beautiful shiny colors. But, since then I have found I get maybe even better stitching and less shredding with the much less expensive Metro Poly threads - and they have more colors! I just checked and they are on sale ending today for cheap!

Well I have loads of polly cotton on big reels 120. left over from my loose cover business, both my Brother machines like them. they both like the expensive stuff, my brother inov 900, will use cheepy ebay silk art, not the other brother, I like to use expensive stuff on nice projects, but if its loads of pencil cases, goody birthday bags, i will use polly cotton and try to highlight things with the silk, It comes out fine. Hugs Pam.

Good question, my machine is so good, she likes all of them I do not have any problem with threads, I have Isocord, Marathon, florian, RA, some from JO Ann fabric, Thread Art ( do not know what brand is it) and now I bought metallic Superior, hope is as good as I have heard, because it is expensive.

It is a very interessing question. When my machine was Husq Designer1 she wanted only Sulky, and this thread is very expensive, especially in France. Now, my new machine is Husq Ruby, and she like every brand of thread. As many Cuties here I have bought Metro, it works very well, the colours are very varied, and it is the cheapest. I use always needles with large eye because my eyes are tired, and I have never broken threads.

I've tried several brands. My machine likes them all except QA threads.
I like Metro for its performance, appearance and price. I had the basic 66 spool set sent to my daughter in AZ and I collected it when we visited her last year. Even with currency exchange and shipping to Australia the spools would have been less than $1/spool. I also like Marathon and Madeira threads - pricier but lovely to use.

I use metro (mostly) and have some Floriani that came with my first machine purchase. I prefer poly to rayon (have tried a little sulky with bad results).

My machines prefer Isacord but will stitch with Metro. They both dislike Maderia and constantly break it.

I use many diffent kinds. Sulky, Brother, Coats & Clark, Marathon and ARC. I've never tried the RA or Metro brands...maybe I should look into them and give it a try. Interesting thread. Thanks ~Rita

I use Hemmingworth, I didn't really like it to start with but it has grown on me, I use it because it is the the easiest one for me to get my hands on the shade I need, in a hurry because my dealer stocks it. It is not the cheapest option by a long way, but it is convenient and I sometimes get freebies from my dealer because I think I might have paid for his last car with my machine purchases. lol.

It does have really cool covers that you just pop the little top off, then you put it back on with the tread sticking out so you can keep all the thread tidy.

I'm a big fan of Robinson Anton rayon and Metro thread. I get the RA at discountembroiderysupply or my dealer matches their price when I buy 10 spools or more. Hugs..Carol

I'm a Metro girl and my Ellisimo loves it and their prewound bobbins...can't beat the price. But, I love the Madera Metallic thread...and so does my machine...I have never had a shread or a break with this metallic thread, unlike some others I have tried, like YLI..I bought som YLI at a show and, boy, I have not had very good success with it...even with Titanium needles...Anyone else used YLI metallic with success or without? Just checking to see if anyone else has had a problem with the brand...or did I get a bad spool?

I have rayon-Madeira (special projects lovely but pricier), Metro poly (unexpensive and nice), most threads are nice and vary greatly in price.

I have used many brands and have even used th ultra cheep metro with no trouble. One word to the wise would be to only order a small amount of a new brand until you see if you machine likes it. So many on this site have made large purchases only to find their machine didn't like that brand. I also love the large eye titanium embroidery needles. I purchase them at www.allstitch.net

I wait until Shoppers Rule has a sale on Robinson Anton, then I stock up! I like the RA rayon threads because they are shiny. I've heard a lot of ggod things about MetroEmb thread, but haven't ordered any yet.

Both my Brother ULT and Quattro sew very well using Metro. My Amaya XT commercial machine at high speeds doesn't do well with it though. Their plastic side prewound bobbins work pefectly on my Brother machines and commercial machine. They are a great price

i looked up Madeira thread and seems to be in my budget :D does it work well?

zoefzoef by zoefzoef 02 Jan 2012

Never had any problems with it so far, but I'm just a beginner (i got my machine last August)

bumblebee by bumblebee 02 Jan 2012

Madeira Rayon is a very nice thread. You can't go wrong-Its a staple so is Robinson Anton, Floriani. The won most available is Coats and clark at JOANNS but now that I've tried others I don't like it and neither does my machine plus
its to expensive

bumblebee by bumblebee 02 Jan 2012

see below science widow link, its the purpose of the item to decide what thread to use. Poly threads where like iron and are good for childrens clothing and bibs
Things that get cleaned a lot.
