I was dating my now husband for almost a year. He bought me flowers and took me out for a hamburger at the local drive-in. Those were the days.We got married 2 years later. That will be 46 years on April 2nd.
I had a party! All the kids from church came, my mom charmed the boys at the record player, the girls fummed! Dad finally captured her and they hid out while we danced. My folks made me invite the boy next door (a nerd, sort of shy and backward) because it would be rude to have him hear the music and not be included. I hated that! Now I am the one making sure everyone is included and no one is left out! Life lessons learned even when we thought we knew it all...That was in 1960, my dad died in 1961. I hadn't finished high school...boy did life change. Not sure I have ever had another party! I have certainly celebrated, have good friends and family and we do dinner, etc. No parties! hmmmmm....might have to think about the 70th year! Might throw my own party! Linda
Yes. February 1952. I was busy preparing for my fifth and final year at High School. In those days the first term for the school year began on or around my birthday - now it starts a week earlier.
I was packing my school case, sharpening my pencils, checking my home ink well was full ..... and I had a new Conway Stewart fountain pen with a blue mottled barrel and a gold ring around it.

Yes, my 16th birthday was celebrated with another friend who was turning 16 at Herndon Airport. We had several guests and the Orlando Sentinal even came out and took our pictures. Our parents made it very memorable for us. :-)
I so remember my first kiss, and I thought to myself, man if that is all there is to it, what's the big deal! But a few years later I met my husband and then I knew what a kiss was supposed to be like. WOW!!
OH YES I REMBER THAT DAY AS IT WAS YESTERDAY.WAS KISSED FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME BY MY VERY FURST CRUSS DENNIS.I LOVED HIME..OH BOY..... BUT HE DIDENT FEEL THE SAME WAY..BOOHOO HOO...HE CAME TO MY SUPPRISE PARTY (NOT) AND KISSED AT THE DOOR AS HE LEFT..AW SHUCKCKES...LOL...L/LUCY
OH Boy! I had a big surprise party that was not a surprise, so I invited everyone I knew who invited everyone they knew and so on. Thank heavens there was not twitter or facebook in those days because as it was, my party got somewhat out of control. Somebody rode a motorcycle into our fence and others had alcohol stashed in the nearby field. But my dad sorted them all out.
The details of the day is somewhat fuzzy... but, I got married 2 days later.
Oh yes! I remember that day...I went and got my ears pierced! My mom sent my dad with me because she was sure I would faint! (I didn't)LOL "Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end,oh yes those were the days!"
Hugs, Nadyne
I remember - I went out with my then boyfriend for dinner in a pink dress he bought for me - he is now my husband of 40 years. (in 19 days time!) Funny I have never worn Pink since! It's not one of my favourite colours. Love and blessings Chris
