What a good idea. I got a suitcase with wheels on the bottom to put in my regular sewing machine. I teach quilting classes, so I can put in all of my stuff, and then have it ready to go in one trip. A tote would have worked quite well too!!
If you still have the box it came in you can make a bag with handles to cover the box. It may have all the protective foam/padding to keep it from getting banded up.
sorry, I had to post again. Here's another site, that looks very similar to the allfreesewing site. This site for sure has some sewing machine cover directions.

Don't be sorry. I appreciate all the help I can get. Thank you. The one that has the cover for the Husqvarna machine will fit the bill. And still have pockets on the side. Excellent.
I've gotten tons of free patterns and ideas from www.allfreesewing.com They link to lots and lots of tutorials, with lots of pictures. I've gotten lots of ideas, for both home stuff and for wearables.
This is a great gift. What machine did you get her? Tell her we would like to see her projects quite soon. Happy stitching
Brother I forgot the model number. The lady at the store said she has been sewing for over 30 years. And this is the one she wants. I will tell her.
Try All Free Sewing and Tip Nut. They both have loads of free patterns. With both you may have to go through a couple of links but should find something. With TipNut start with sewing category and then continut on.
Here is a site you might find useful.
Search for "pattern for tote bag" and you will get lots of site. You may also be able to adapt a diaper bag pattern to meet your needs.
