Brother is a good brand if that helps. I do want you to know that when you buy a machine like this though, you get no support with it. I really recommend that you go to a dealer and check out their machines if you can.
I would say to get a White serger if they still make them. I had mine for years and still works just fine
This will do a good job if you already know how to use one. If you don't you won't have any support for lessons, instruction when you get stuck (and you WILL) etc. But my daughter bought one on line from Wallmart, and I walk her through problems. She has been sewing, but never used a serger before. Also, my friend bought one from Wallmart when I was visiting her. Same brand, etc. The knife broke. We took it back. The knife broke again! Had not hit any pins, etc, and I have never broken a knife after 20 years and 3 different sergers! Local shop wouldn't touch it, and said they don't carry knifes for their brand because they just don't break. But 3rd time was the charm, Wallmart replaced it (as I am sure Costco would as well) and all is well. Friend does not use it much, waits for me to visit! But check a local shop before you buy, see if they have a used one, or an inexpensive new one. They offer lessons, they give support, and they take tradeins when you are ready to upgrade. Then buy from Costco if they don't meet your needs! Linda
