Here are three close ups of blocks to show how they shifted on me,and the how the stems connect to each other block. Thanks for looking.
You did an excellent job of your embroidery project!! And covering the "oops" spots with more embroidery is a great idea!! I do the same thing when I'm embroidering on jeans fabric. I cover the holes with applique. :)
Once you learn how to do binding, then I promise that you will wonder what was so difficult. Kinda like learning how to embroider, right? If you cannot find a tutorial that adequately instructs you on binding, then PM me, and I"ll write one for you. I have to do a binding on a quilt that I'm almost finished with, and guess I could just do a picture tutorial that way. Which QAUG method did you use? It looks great.
thank you Justonlyme, i was abit afraid to try it out, but how else am i going to learn QUAG method. I really like your idea also on putting embroidery over jeans. This is how i did my QUAG method, first i used a med. tear away stablizer, then i layed light batting, then layed my fabric over this in hoop. Then once the block was stitched out, i removed it from hoop and trimmed carefully around batting so it would be just under the fabric, like in the frame of the embroidered block.I'll post a pic of close up of one of the blocks to show. Then i did my best to line up each block as you go along, on account (not sure if you can see on project) but you have to line them up pretty accurate for some of the stem of flowers going into each other. The outter blocks have a grid stithed to frame the sweetpea blocks, as also the grey framing (circle)thats where i had my shifting and covered them with fancy hummers.oh yes, when i trimmed the blocks before joining them,i made sure there was the 1/4inch seam allowance. As u can see in these close up pics, how some of the blocks shifted, but for my first ever QAUG i think i did alright. I was quite new to doing embroidery and i'm still learning,so this one i'll keep for myself, if i ever make one for someone, i will make sure its done much much better.
justonlyme, i have instructions to do binding, thank you for the offer, but i'm just a big scarey cat LOL. and i don't know how to send a pm on here.. I have some beautiful smaller blocks made just gotta get that nerve up to do the binding on them. Maybe this week i'll just go for it.. Your most likely right on once i do one , i'll probably think to myself, geez what a chicken i was and it was easy to make a binding ;)
Stunning
thank you sandralochran, i just measured it as is no binding it is 23 inches wide and 30 1/2 inches long.
Thank you so much for your kind words on my swp wallhanger. I found the name of site where i got those fancy hummers, its from redmoongardens. oh i like that idea too ladies to frame it if i can't get the binding done, hmm will give it a serious thought. This baby took me most of one winter to complete. I sure made my little jamome 300E work out, heehee. I'd like to make another one someday, I think i'd like to try it on a deeper back fabric so maybe the backing stitching around sweetpeas would show up more, and use a much better fabric too. I was thinking wouldn't this make an awesome center for a quilt, with more sweetpeas and add more birds and a few bugs? I also have pattern to make tablerunner with sweet peas from same lady. I too love sweetpeas and their smell. Thanks again for compliments.
This really beautiful. Like Capoodle commented, it would look terrific with binding or framed.
Also, if you are afraid of doing the binding, there is a tutorial on you tube that simplifies the task a great deal. Sorry I don't have the url(web address) for it and to be honest I would get it for you but my head is pounding like gangbusters. Will look tomorrow or when I feel better.
It is gorgeous and if you don't want to do binding think about framing it. Either way it will be lovely on your wall or sitting on a table.
This looks lovely, nice job...I love sweet peas and their fragrance.
I think this is one of those projects that a photo doesnot do it full justice. It looks very good and I love the birds. I like that you have given us loads of information on making it
Thank you noah for your compliment. The fancy humming birds are from another site, i can't remember at the moment where i got them from, i have to look through my files. Once i get name where i got them from i'll post name. My fabric was too thin for this kind of project, so it shifted as i stitched it out. Was my first QAUG project, so to cover my booboos heehee, i embroidered the fancy hummers in areas where fab. shifted.
