I also use pes, but save the vip files as well. They use Sulky colors and usually are much closer to the original picture no matter what thread company was used. Does not take up much space as the file size is smaller than pes.
Thank you for all for you input. I now understand why I have this problem...color limitation. I will try your suggestions. Thanks. The designs in cute embroidery are great. Other sites allow me to download a color chart or include it in the zip file. I think freeembroidery.com is one of them that allows you download the color chart. Thanks again people! Nice group of people on here.
Sadly the Brother palette of colours is much smaller than other machine palettes. I think it's 61 for the regular embroidery thread, and I can't remember the number of colours in the Country palette (both Brother of course). You could manually edit the colour palette in PED so that Brother colours are chosen, but that's time consuming for every design, so I usually choose colours as I'm about to sew a design. :) xXx
Just to be clear, I mention the Brother palettes because I'm assuming you have a Brother machine, which will "guess" the "closest" colour to the design colour showing on the screen if it's not from the Brother palette, sometimes with very weird colour requests (eg dark green for faces lol)
My Brother does the same thing. I one the design before loading it on my card and write the color names down for each design I am loading on my card along with the name it has so it have it logged if I use it again later.

I have PE design lite and it just prints the designs as they show up on the screen. Sometimes the colors are not the right colors especially browns and greens. I think you have gotten lots of great suggestions! Good luck.
I agree with the answers given but i also put a link to the design in the same folder. there have been times when the zip has come with no info on the designer or the site

If you have Microsoft 7 0n your computor, there is a snipping tool down the left side which you can use to snip around the pictures of your designs most of which you can get colours of and save them to your hard drive, when you want to check colours ect just bring them up, hope this helps
