Since we are getting to know each other a little more and it is 4 in the morning and I am ready for bed but coughing and blowing my nose cause of ashtma, how many ear or other piercings and or tattoos do you have? My ears are pierced 6 time with one on top making 13 earrings, no others but if I was still skinny I'd get my bellybutton done. I have 6 tattoos (but one of those is covering up one I regretted so technically 7) but would love to get one more, an angel that says courage under it. Give it up girls, what do you have?

I have my ears pierced 2 twice, 2 earings in each ear. When my MIL and SIL found out they were quite upset. I guess I was being a bad infulence on my adult dtrs. They are very old fashion. No tattoos because....I just don't. I'm thinking about getting tattoo eye brows because mine are invisible...I look like Whopi if I don't use eyebrow pencil....
Thanks for asking....I love these questions :-)

Deb, sorry for the delay, but working week has begun again and so I do not have time to check all the new messages on this side every day...
I have one piercing in the left ear; and 3 on the right. (when I was young this was a fashion at a certain moment); when I came back from India after holiday (also when I was young) I putted myself a nose ring (But don't use it anymore). Together with my boyfriend (now husband) we putted a tatoo in Mallorca (Spain) I have a rose with moon on my right sholder. He selected a dragon.

Well, since you asked I have my ears each pierced twice. And I have one butterfly tatoo on my right shoulder (back) which I got when I was in the Navy. I'm alright with a few tatoos as long as the whole body is not covered. And I think ear piercing is fine but stay away from the FACE. Your lips are for kissing not piercing. Juanita

Here's something silly that just keeps popping up in my head--when I was little, my mom would check behind our ears, and she would always say "you could grow potatoes back there" and make us go wash again. Then, a few years ago, my daughter was a cheerleader so I spent lots and lots of time in the gym, sitting in the bleachers, looking at the back ends of people sitting in front of me. Each time I saw a girl with vines tattooed on her lower back, it looked like they would be growing up out of her hind end! So that phrase of my mom's would pop up--and I would think of potato vines! Even my boss has one of those vines.

No tattoos. I had my ears pierced at 25 one hole in each year. I don't want anything more. I wear no makeup except for my son's wedding and I always tell my hair stylist of 34 years I want wash and wear no fuss. But I will skinny dip and howl at the moon at midnight on women's weekend with the girls. Cindy B

Debra, this has been an enlightening topic... and I loved the responses you've gotten from it. After having my tat done, I understood why some people say that getting tattoo work done can be addicting. I've thought about having my dragon tat extended, but I'm diabetic and didn't want to push my luck with it.

Dear Debbie,
I had my ears pierced when I was 18 and then got a second set when I was about 30. No tattoos - but my elder daughter has her children's name tattooed on her feet and a couple on her body. None of the other children have them. I only wear gold earrings and take them out every night before bed and I never shower in my jewellery. Love Chris

leenova54 by leenova54 10 Jan 2012

That's cool. I rarely take out my earrings, I feel naked and it takes time to get 13 earring back in so they only come out for cleaning or medical reasons except for the lower ones cause those get switched all the time.

I prefer my tattoos to be small and pretty, I like flowers and butterflies and I think the seahorse is an amazing creature, she deposits the eggs to him and he carries them till birth and after!

One ear ring in each ear, & that's it. Passed out after the first one as it was! My daughter's a speech pathlogist & she says the stud in the tongue is without a doubt a bad idea. Not only does it usually affect your speech, your mouth is full of germs & it's not healthy! Don't know about those nose studs..but how in the world do you get to the back of it to take it out to clean it!?

leenova54 by leenova54 10 Jan 2012

My son almost passed out when he got his done, he passes out easy though. Tongue bars are just not good ideas. Nose things from what I have seen on ebay are usually like a swirled bar that you put through and twist and it just stays there so you don't have to get inside your nose to remove it.

leenova54 by leenova54 10 Jan 2012

have to get inside to remove it.

No tats here either. In my early 20's everyone but me had their ears pierced. I was feeling so left out. My husband could not stand the thoughts of holes in my ears and did not want me to do it. He was gone for a week long trip for work and I made an apt to go to my dentist (who did ear piercings with small gold studs back then) so as to give me several days to get over it before he returned. Went on my lunch hour and on the way back I had a flat tire on my car. At home that night I was doing the peroxide thing and got so sick that I almost fainted. Had to lay down before I could clean the other ear.

I decided I was being punished for doing something I had been asked not to do.

Until about age 50 I wore lots of different earrings and really enjoyed them. Now just small gold studs or tiny diamond studs occasionally.

I have so enjoyed reading all these piercing and tattoo answers. I can just picture all of you sitting at your embroidery machines with lots of piercings and tattoos sprinkled around.

Great!!!

Ok, now I have a strange question--I think that the tiny little stud in a girl's nose is beautiful and exotic-looking, but what if you have to blow your nose? With my allergies, I'm afraid I'd hurt myself!

leenova54 by leenova54 09 Jan 2012

I know, a friend of my son had her's done and if she didn't have a stud in it came out there too. The piece inside would get gunky and yucky so I would not be able to handle that!

parkermom by parkermom 09 Jan 2012

I'm having some gross mental pictures right now! I never even imagined it coming out that stud hole! How funny!

I've got 2 sets of ear piercings and that's all for poking holes in my ears. LOL! I got a tat on my back in August 2009 to commemorate my son's 21st birthday which he had while he was deployed to Afghanistan. 1988 was the Year of the Dragon. Lo and behold, 2012 is another Dragon year. It is black AND red... that's how I wanted it done. 3 years has softened it some, but not much. I have no regrets.

I have no tat's even though everyone in my family is LOL Been offered so many times and have always turned it down. I have this thing about any type of needle going into my body LOL I think my finger tips is the only place I personally have stuck myself LOL The younger ones are now putting their babies feet on the sides and one did the word LOVE and used the babies feet for the V.
As far as pierceings I have only my ears and they were done when I was very little.

No ink but my ears are pierced, one hole in each. I was about 17 when I got that done. My cousin did it for me. We are the same age. I can not wear anything but 14K without having problems so never wanted any more piercings.I can not even wear sterling. After I had it done, I tried to get my Mom to get it done but she did not want to do it. She bought several sets of earrings for me over the yrs but she always wore clip-ons.

One hole in each ear. My daughter was about 13 and wanted her ears pierced so said mom I'll pay for yours if you will go first, she had to beg for about a week,. When we had it done it hurt me bad blood went everywhere, my ear are thick. I wanted to scream but knew how much she wanted hers pierced so I didn't. Hers didn't hurt at all so now at 38 she has 7 in each ear which she did 6 by herself.

No tats here. My skin is so sensative that I'd probably get an infection from it. Have only one piercing in each ear done years ago by sis in law with an ice cube and big darning needle. Took me an hour of laying down on the floor drinking orange juice before she could do the second one. Made me so sick to my stomach. LOL I was in my late 20's and will never have another. My kids and 2 grandkids have Tats along with son in law. A few Tats are ok but when I see bodies covered with them I cringe. Had a nurse tell my daughter before an operation that more than 3 Tats can cause problems with the meds to put you to sleep. at 67 years old I am happy with my decision not to mention the fact I do hate needles. LOL My grandson, son and son in law each have a beautiful cross with my dear hubbys DOB and DOD in his memory on them and I do love them.

Both of my children, both grown - have tatto's & I am not sure about if they have piecings - I believe my daughter has one in her belly button. I had each of my ear's pierced when I was in my 30's - but that lasted just a couple years - I have no tatoo's and don't care for them - however - if another has them - that is totally up to them.

Why didn't you continue to wear earrings? I seriously feel naked without mine in! When I have to do a scan I take them out the night before and can't wait to get home and put them back in!

shirlener88 by shirlener88 09 Jan 2012

I have really sensitive skin - I had lots of trouble with jewelry causing irratation - my ears would get infected. That sort of long drawn out stuff.

leenova54 by leenova54 09 Jan 2012

Oh, my aunt can only wear earrings for a short period but you can put clear nail polish on them or stuff you can get in the jewelry making isles of craft stores for the same thing, don't know if that would help, it is usually an allergy to nickle.

I just have single piercing in each ear. You know, the coming of age type reason. I once had a friend tell me that she wanted to have a pantsuit tattooed on her, then she wouldn't worry when she was undressed. What a hoot!! Seahorse left calf age 35, bluebird right calf age 36, side view butterfly left arm age 36, purple rose it's an inch and a half top to bottom so you can see all my tatts are small added age 39, butterfly with flowers is covering up a broken heart and is 3" top to bottom on my right wrist and I get tons of compliments on it, age 45, last one is actually long but only about 2 inches high, celtic design and shamrock in the center done by a guy who didn't mirror image it so it is off but he offered to add onto it for the cost of the needle to make it look better, it is waist level in back of course and I got it around age 52, I am 57 sneaking up on 58 soon and I really want the angle one done, thinking right side chest (boobs are sagging as far as they are going to go so she won't get stretched out, lol!) or right bicep. There ya go, that is what I have. I suppose this cut me off though!

WHY? her pubic hair had been dyed bright green and across the top of her bikini line was tatooed
KEEP OF THE GRASS
She would be in her late fourties now and i often wonder what her husband thinks of it all (thats if she married).

When I worked in ICU at the hospital the same thing happened but it was a mans shall we say special part completely tattoed and pierced. Far out stories come from hospitals

leenova54 by leenova54 09 Jan 2012

OMG Annie, that is hilarious!!! Thankfully the green eventually came off but the tattoo, maybe with the new laser ways.

leenova54 by leenova54 09 Jan 2012

OK, hubby read me a thing once that a guy had a hundred dollar bill tattooed on his penis so he could watch his money grow.....oh, that is just nasty to think about and I almost didn't tell it!

Funny question! I have 4 ear piercing. I always say I have 4 tatoos in places no can see, but really, they are just the tatoos they give you when you get radiation so I guess they don't really count!!

leenova54 by leenova54 09 Jan 2012

Hmmm, should we count radiation tattoos? They said I have too many spots so they can't do radiation on me. We'll have to wait and see, I have several in my ribs and those are small bones.

leenova54 by leenova54 10 Jan 2012

YES, they count! I decided just this minute!

My daugther had an infection when she was a baby, I took the earing off, the hole closed and now she has ear pierced, and belly, some tattoos, the last one she put her father's name and a bible verse next to his name, she says this way he is close to her

ansalu by ansalu 09 Jan 2012

Mary did you ever watch Miami Ink? It's from a Tattoo-studio and the customers tell why they come for a tattoo. You would wonder how there were people who have lost someone and wanna keep them close to their heart. I will always remember that father who lost his baby and they made him such a wonderful tattoo of his child like it is still lying at his shoulder.
For myself I am much to affraid of needles but there are really artists doing tattoos...

Glad to see I am not the oldest to jump in when I past 30. That is really pretty, love the flowers and color and of course that cat!! Nickle allergies really make it tough. I rarely buy anything but sterling or 10-14k earrings. I wait till Kohl's has their 1/8-1/10 TCW diamonds on sale for $29.99, I wear all little diamond studs in 5 of the holes, a surgical steel hoop in that top one and dangles or hoops in the bottom.

First had my ears pierced when I was about 30 yrs. I had no end of trouble, even wearing gold earings. On my 60th I decided to try again - success!!! No more weeping wounds. I now have a lovely collection of earings but usually just wear pearl studs. I am afraid I do not like tattoos much. Both my daughters have - but it is not for me. Great topic Debra:) :)

I have I think 3 holes in each earlobe, but I only ever wear one pare of earings. I had my ears pierced when I was 15, against my parents wishes and they pierced them way to low. I then pierced them my self for the second time, because that was the fashion, but I lined it up with the first disaster and they were all to low. So when I wore earings I just looked like so much trailer trash I did not bother for years, until the Christmas before last my husband bought me diamond studs. So I had to go off and get my ears pierced properly. I do have a tattoo, it is very discreet, I got it when I was 30, at that time I could see it when I looked down, now I can't because I am too fat. It is on my right lower abdo hip area, very nice rose. I am not a big tattoo fan, but I just wanted this one for some reason that I can't explain.

leenova54 by leenova54 09 Jan 2012

Yes, mine was for a reason I can't discuss at age 35. I couldn't see one in most areas either, too fat! Sorry they messed up your ears and happy your hubby bought you diamond earrings, I buy my own tiny ones but he pays since I don't have an income.

leenova54 by leenova54 09 Jan 2012

Some get tattoos and dress "goth" to show their individuality but I think they are just followers too. I quit coloring my hair after I lost it from chemo 2 years ago. Some go for "bling", some don't.

keeponsewing by keeponsewing 10 Jan 2012

I hate tattoos, but have my ears pierced twice on either side. I got the first piercings when I was 11. My Dad said, " I suppose you will get a ring in your nose next". He would be 108 now if he was still alive so you can imagine what he would think of all of the piercings around these days.

Odd Bettina, I thought that with your scarring you would have had trouble with pierced ears too.

ansalu by ansalu 09 Jan 2012

My head seems to be the only zone without that problem but I will never try to make my nose small and tiny with the help of a plastic surgery ;o)
It all starts when I was 14 and broke my leg. The fracture needs a surgery and I had about 50stitches on my left leg. After this OP some wounds (and if its only a pimple) starts to grow to a thick purple keloid and no doctor can say why or what to do. After consulting a few different medical specialists I give up my wish to remove them (made one try with liquid oxygen to freeze the scar and inject cortison in it to stop the growing; had to do this about 5times and it does not look so much better afterwars; 6 month later this scar starts growing high again :o(
