This is more for the Cuties in Australia. Where do you buy your WWS from and what weight do you buy. How many layers do you use when doing FSL? I bought some really nice WWS ages ago but can't remember where.

Hi Lyn,

I used to buy mine from SPOTLIGHT here in Newcastle, but after chatting with Meg have bought some from USA - still waiting for it to arrive - mail is slow from there. Ordered before Christmas!

It depends on the stitches as to how much I use - I much prefer the MESH type one, don't like the plastic. If it's under 10,000 stitches then I only use one layer, if it's over that then 2 layers. It's up to each individual as to how much to use, but it you want a nicer firm design - use 2 layers.

Love and blessings Chris

Hi, i buy my wss from The sewphisticated stitcher,i use vilene for all my fsl projects, i really like it. I have tried those wss looks like plastic, yuck LOL They have many different other notions and blanks etc also at this site. There is a area to see how much shipping cost would be for you if you decide to order from them. Hope this helps you, have a great day!

I get mine from Designs By Sick, the fabric type. Seems to be the standard postage to Australia is $28 (US) so I buy lots of rolls of stabiliser at a time - as in several rolls of each type that I'll use. At the time it was the only place I knew of where I could get diamond mesh stabiliser for making quilts. Takes a while to get here, but it still works out cheaper than buying it here. Weird, eh? I once bought a package of that plastic-y one from Spotlight only to find out it was a small square and cost something like $30! (was a german brand but can't think of the name right now) xXx

I get all my supplies from Echidna. Probably because I am only 15 minutes from head office, but I think they are the best supplier in Australia, if you are an platinum club member I think you get free shipping, but check it out just in-case I am wrong.

Lyn I buy mine in bulk from either Shopper'sRule or ABC, the one listed below.
I love the fabric type WSS far better than the plastic type, which I didn't like at all.

ABC has theirs on special and they charge a reasonable price for postage, which makes it so much cheaper than anywhere you can buy it here in Aus.

Shopper's Rule recently had a great special for a 25 yd x 11" roll of WSS mesh stabiliser, I bought some to try it, it was only $30 AUD including postage.

It works out way more cost effective than ABC's 24" x 5yd.

With Shopper's Rule it is beneficial to sign up as a member (free) and get their specials newsletter emails. Their only drawback is very slow delivery time to Australia.

As for how much to use, I use two sheets, criss/crossed for FSL but only one layer as a topping.

I hope this helps.
Hugs and roses, Meganne

Usually use 2 layers for FSL. Sometimes 1 in the hoop and use the smaller pieces floating on top.

mi30kaja by mi30kaja 09 Jan 2012

Thanks Anne, Actually I have just bought some from Creek Creations and suspect this is where I bought the other lot. I have also bought some from another place but do not like it as much as the first buy.
