Just the other day I did a giraffe mask, all was well. Changed thread and bobbin for color change, did a chetah mask (had done pattern before) and all the thread was clumped underneath. Same needle, no setting changes, hmmm. Rethreaded top and bobbin, tried again, same thing. Turns out that I picked up a Janome bobbin and my Viking would not accept it! When I changed back to the original bobbin to try that, I noticed one bigger than the other and no curve on the edges. That was it! So simple, took me an hour of fussing with it to discover operator error! Linda
I have similar problems with my one machine and all the advice the ladies have give, is exactly what helps. I also listen well for the clicks, when the thread goes through the tension bar, while holding one top while you are threading. I hope you will soon discover the problem. ****
Annie from the uk has given you good advise. I have the same machine. I had the top thread make a birds next underneath. One time it was because there was a burr on the bobbin case and the thread was catching on it (I replaced the bobbin case, but wouldn't have had to - like Annie commented - use a nail file - I can use this bobbin case again. The other thing is that with this machine you need to listen when threading as you can hear a little click when you thread the 3 tension spots. Oiling as Annie mentioned would be a good idea.
Good luck.
I use unwaxed floss to clean out my top tension. Floss it about 3-4 times and it'll remove any loose threads.
Have you moved the top tention at all, I was doing freehand on me Banena, I moved the top tension to get different effects, when I tried to sew a straight stitch after,It was macking a click sound and it looked like a spider underneath, Loads of top thread had pulled through underneath. It took me a while to notice I had not put my tention wheel back to the center position, once i did Hay Presto.Sews brillient. Hope this helps for you. Hugs Pam.

I removed the needle plate and I noticed the bar around the hook race is loose.the bar is near the auto thread cutter device. I have sent the mail to the company. For us in India, as I am based into other state it is very difficult for us for maintenance of the machine. They do come only if there is a genuine problem.
The message is half I have continued, it is very difficult for maintenance. They come only if it is a genuine problem.

remove all thread from the machine. find a nice one inch paint brush (household paintbrush ) and brush between the tension holder where the top thread passes through.this should remove any bits of thread that may have been caught between the metal discs.
remove the entire bobbin section and again brush it out well. put a tiny amount of thin oil in the bottom of the bobbin carrier. not the bobbin holder itself but under it.make sure that you have also brushed down the entire working section that moves and put a small amount of thin machine oil onto all moveing parts
spend a morning really cleaning the machine
check the bobbin case over for needle strikes and if possible use a very fine nail file the card type to smooth the area so that the thead does not catch. any rough section wil cause the bottom thread to get caught and so cause the nesting and jamming. change the needle and also make sure you have not inadvertantly dropped the feed dog.
if after doeing all that it still will not work then i sugest takeing it to a dealer for a full service.
i do so hope this will help you. I use the paint brush because the bristles are longer and so get into more places,

Check your bobbin holder for any burrs, as even one small burr can cause trouble. If you find one, replace the bobbin holder.

I had the same problem just before christmas and there were a small piece of thread in the tension plate, remove the spool and have a look if there isn't a small piece of thread caught in there. Hope you get the little bugger lol Hugs Louise
