I love your idea of reversable aprons and using all that spare material. Have a lovely sewing day***
Great minds think alike, lol! Until last week I didn't know what a blank was! After I found out I thought, hummm I can make my own blanks, like aprons, and other stuff to embroider on with all this excess material I have sitting around in all these bins. So I've been making some blanks so I have something interesting for gifts and blank swaps.
Thank you for your creative idea for using up supplies on hand. I would like to ask if any one
has used the binder feet for putting on bias tape?
It is on my list to check out for the new year. We used to have a couple of salvage fabric places close by that we could get bias by the roll and a large roll of rick rack for next to nothing. They
closed. I have an old scrubbies smock that snaps that I wear in the kitchen to protect my clothes, well it needs to be replaced badly.Maureen
Yes that is how to make a reversible apron! rick rack can add a lot also! My country favorite from way back when! also add a bib or ruffle for a 50's look! Or this would be a great place for cutwork! I think it is time to make another one. Live Laugh Download Stitch!
Speaking of the 50's. I remember making my
first apron in 4H Club then. Those were
good times. My Grandmother would piece quilt tops all year on treadle machine and
come winter ladies from the community would come and quilt. I loved to watch and
sometimes they would let me try my hand.
Good memories! Maureen
Sounds like a plan - if you have the means and the talent to do so - would surely make wonderful gifts.
You're one smart cookie. Doing things yourself 85% of the time is the best thing to do. It is amazing how many people are coming back to aprons. I remember having to wear one all the time when I was helping my grandmother back in the 50's. It is true if you just wait long enough it will come back in style.
I love to do sewing things by myself.
However I like to delegate Housework to others. lol Maureen
The ones they have are skimpy and aren't even cut straight! You have a great idea! I made some, but I kept getting the top ties too far apart. They only take about 20-30 minutes each.
I bought two kids ones for Christmas gifts at Joann's and they seemed to be made well enough. Used my 40% coupon too. But making them and using up fabric is at great idea! Can't wait to see how they turn out. I bet they'll be beautiful and making them reversable is a wonderful idea.
I usually make my own aprons. I have nowhere near to buy from anyway. Thanks for your detailed info on making a apron. I have a great apron with the design from Meganne saying 'I kiss better than I cook'
