Goodness!!! Ladies, how do you survive all that cold. I sit here in blistering heat in Durban S.A. and I am frozen to the bone reading about your cold temps out there. Sympathies goes to you together with warm hugs and lots of lovings and bunches of red roses to all of you. ******
I hear you! But I'm in the Niagara region of southern Ontario, and its not nearly as cold here as what you have. But we're getting blustery winds and snow!
Aw come on Alma, if you don't want to stay at lilylady's you can come stay with me for a few days here in MN. Just make sure you bring your embroidery machine, its to darn cold to go outside, even my chickens agree!
If I could get all the ladies to come upnorth to get together, that would be nice. What do you all think?
I am not sure where you are located, on HWY 2 but I know the area well. Born and raised Minnesotan. I don't mind the cold this winter has been very mild. Growing up on the farm I remember sub zero weather for weeks. I even have gone tobogganing in -50F degrees weather with a -80F windchill when I was in my 20's. I do not like heat and humid weather. This morning in Minneapolis we were -10F below with a -32F windchill. I just wore 2 sweatshirts and hat and gloves.

Yes, I seen you when then asked Minn. to respond to who lived in Mn. I hope we get together. We were lucky today, no wind.
Oh my god, we have (new found in 2009!!) family in Minneapolis after a mutual ancestor emigrated to the states
in the 19th century. My cousin Melissa got twins last November. Tomorrow I hope to skype with her first time after birth of her little ones - hopefully it is not too cold. Here in Germany we have a mixture of every kind of
weather - one day wet, the other "cold", then spring-like. It is difficult to adapt...Good luck for all with the extreme temperatures -Maria
then had about 20 below, suppose to get above zero in MPLS today. We are 200 miles north of the cities. Hello to Germany!LOL
Recently found out that our daughter, son-in-law and grandson may be moving to Fairbanks Alaska, in the summer. (Military; orders are not in hand yet.)
-45 may seem like a warm spell to them if the orders are finalized. They will be slightly south of the artic cicle.
Has anyone seen embroidery designs of moose, polar bears, etc?
Hugs,
Jacqueline
my DIL's neice and husband are stationed there. My GD was there this summer. Of coarse it was beautiful there then.
They are predicting a blizzard here in mountains of Colorado! My husband's family homesteaded up on the North Shore by Little Marais and Tofte. Are you anywhere near there? We have just a tiny bit of property there still!
We're staying nice a warm inside - I'm making a pot of chili today :-) Hugs - stay safe! Jan
Hey neighbor. I am in Grand Forks, North Dakota. I am shivering with you. We had a windchill of minus 45 at 7:30 this morning. Brrrr.
But you have wide open spaces for that wind to kick up and bllllooooowwwww. We have the trees to help stop it. If you get on hwy 2 from grand forks to duluth, you go right by my house. I have relation in grand forks. My Dad was raised in the corner or N.D, MN., and canada.
Stay warm - is is just boiling here in South Africa and further north they are experiencing terrible floods.
Had wind chills to -24F when we lived in Illinois and that was dreadfully frigid. Hope they keep the school kids home until it warms to a better temperature (bus' probably wouldn't start anyway). Don't go out and add on the layers. Warm hugs and thoughts for you.
Now thats how I remember winter in the Great White North. Last winter I was there many moons ago it was
blizzards, snowdrifts and -60 wind chill.
O:>)OO....Here is a snowman for you...since it will be too cold to go outside and make one! I think we are to get it...or some of it tomorrow on the mid-Atlantic coast. It will be our first snow for 2012. I do not envy you the COLD temperatures though. As a former educator, I recall the excitement a snow forecast brought ...Very Exciting for the kiddies + Very exciting for the staff too...DAYS OFF! Keep safe & warm!
Hope you have some good heating or someone warm to cuddle up to.
Burr!! I hope you have a really good heating system to keep you warm!
That sounds miserably cold!! It is definitely not hot and humid in Washington though. We are in the midst of an unusually intense blizzard, which has brought pretty much the entire states of Washington and Oregon to a stand-still. It is down in the 20s here and we have about 3' of snow. My dad grew up in North Dakota, so I've heard the stories of the evil misery of cold. Good luck with your weather. I cannot imagine that intense of cold. It is painful to think about. Hang in there. I agree. Those who are too warm should share some. :)
How absolutely awful! I don't see how you can even function with temperatures that low. I thought it got cold here in Northwest Alabama but it is a nice 30 degrees tonight. :) That is almost summer compared to where you are.
Try to stay warm.

I can take the cold much better then the heat. You just learn to stay inside. My GS go to school 20 miles away, and they didn't even get two hrs late, which most school do. LOL
