Another SS PEREFERENCE QUESTION

I don't mind a tote bag, But I do need a pocket at the out-side to put my blackberry (so I can hear when it is ringing) also need a separte pocket (in the bag) for my keys ('cos if the bag is too big I have to search and search,.. to find my homekeys). The design that Meganne showed is nice, but I'm more a classic person so I could use a bag with "jeans look" too much.

I like totes with pockets and zippers.

Link is not working. However I was able after trail and error to get to a placemat tote, is that the one you where referring to or are there more patterns available?

I like sturdy totes for carrying groceries. For purses I like lots of pockets and at least one zippered pocket to secure my wallet. Not a flowery kind of girl, prefer batiks and abstracts. And no blue except denim. Love cats. Hugs. Nan W

I like bags and totes with long straps so I can put them over my shoulder. I like black and gold for bags, totes or purses.

I also like totes, as I always have a book or hand work with me.Pockets gotta have them, inside and out. Velcro works as zippers are a bit of a pain to sew for some people.Stella

I don't use a handbag (= purse?) as I don't carry the usual girly stuff. I have never used make up and although I have a mobile phone I am never sure where it is! I love totes with long handles and pockets, although not too many as I would have to go through them all to find things! Denimy blues, browns and black are my colours.
I make lots of bags for myself and as presents.

I keep a bunch of them around in different sizes. Extra large one to carry groceries, smaller one for shoes, grab and go ones for a drink, snack, umbrella and most of all reinforced and lots of pockets.

Don't mind any of the above. Anything in BLACK, with Roses, Gardenias, Frangipani's for a going out tote - colourful Roosters for a kitchen style one, flowers on anything else. I like long straps to go over the shoulder and lots of pockets - I have so much stuff in my bag it's criminal. Mum says I have muscles like a man to carry it around. LOL!!!! Love Chris

OH, I like totes with long straps to go over my shoulder, even adjustable so I can put my head through too because, for some reason, even my bra straps won't stay on my left shoulder now. Wide straps too because narrow ones hurt too much.
I love most totes, bags, if they have inside pockets, so much the better, outside pockets that close are also good, 5" x 3" minimum i would think would be functional.
Somewhere to put my phone, keys, purse, and make-up.
Practical not frilly on this one because I don't go out nights so i haven't used an evening purse in the last decade.
Now having said that, I'll share with you a bag that I absolutely love and intend to make for myself with my own choice of designs on it.
Isn't it absolutely gorgeous? It looks big enough to be functional and small enough to be pretty.
Wish I had a pattern for it.

I too love this one but I would need velcro, snaps or flaps to close the pockets!

I'd vote for a tote with lots of pockets! However, the black purse with the BFC-Creations design was my favorite purse from the Christmas SS exchange. I'd enjoy just looking at it as a work of art!

Pockets! Lots of inside pockets and at least 2 outside that close for all the store cards and my cell phone! I like roomy but not too big. Quilted are always nice and colors like pinks and greens and blues always fit with what I wear Spring through Fall. Top closure for sure so nobody can reach in and grab my wallet. Sturdy straps that are long enough for over the shoulder but not too long that if it falls to my elbow if hits below the knee. I wish I could make something nice for my secret birthday person but I am not that good.

Purses are not as useful to me. My "purse" is actually a messager bag that Vera Bradley no longer makes. It is perfect. Quilted material, plenty of space with enough pockets inside and out... flap that clips covers two outside pockets. Zippered pocket outside on the back of the bag. Nice wide, heavy duty strap with a luggage type shoulder helper on the strap... I may need to learn how to make these for when this one needs to retire... I am spoiled.

Totes and bags are essential. I agree with others who have mentioned sewing, books, magazines, shopping etc.
I use them to navigate within my house... hands-free transport vessels.
Craft bags for the grandkids are a big hit with the little ones and the parents.

I am known around my home district as the bag lady i have many all shapes and sizes i seem to have a bag purse or roll up for eveything i will post the latest which is a rollup which i carry in another tote everwhere knife fork spoon etc...lol...soozie

Would rather have a tote than a purse. Tote of any kind, any color. With easy pockets! Inside, outside, doesn't matter. I use them for absolutely everything---work, Sunday school class, travel, books, "stuff" etc.

Asterixsew. Yes I love bags and as we now have to pay for ALL polybags in ALL shops it makes sense to have a few at all times. I am more practical than frippary

I have lots and lots of totes that I have made for myself (and about everyone else I know). I carry one almost all the time - so handy! The only purse that I carry is a back-pack purse. I have the fabric cut for one to be made but never seem to get to sewing it - maybe one day...

I love totes and purses, you should see my closet.. I purchase a lot of purses at a thrift store, but I embroider and sew all of my totes... I think everyone I know has at least one of my totes.... all different themes, flowers, butterflies, dogs, anything else a friend might like on their totes

Can't imagine why so few are answering this. However, here are my thoughts. There is no such thing as too many totes. They seem to find their own niche depending on how they've been designed and the embellishments. Use them for books, gym clothes, groceries, running errands, sewing classes & travel. Darker colors are best for the ones that get used a lot so they aren't out of commission often. Like purses as well, like to have different ones for the seasons. Personally am not into animals, enjoy them but don't have any. Butterflies, birds/birdhouses, garden themes, are at the top my of like list. Marilyn

I should probably answer this one myself, lol! I love some of the wonderful elegant totes I've seen in projects etc in the past. I have made lots of plain totes for groceries and I make gardening bags for the gardener. The garden bags end up being multi purpose bags because of all the pockets. I've been using them for when I go grocery shopping. I can only do small designs with my machine (Under 4x4). I love dark backgrounds like black or purple with bright colors. I have chickens and a garage cat, and love horses, tigers, and comical turkeys.
