Be my Valentine?
This is intended to be a freestanding applique which could be put on a card or used in a string or....use your imagination.
Hoop stabiliser, lay a piece of thin wadding and fabric on top. Stitch out the first five colours of the design. They will appear as separate colours so you can be creative. The stitchout shown is done all in red thread on white fabric.
Remove hoop and add a layer a fabric underneath before stitching colour 6. Trim off all excess fabric and wadding. Colour 7 is the final satin stitch outline.
Omit colour 6 to use as a conventional applique design.
