28 Jan 2012-I just got a call from my daughter. It seems she received a number of emails 'supposedly' from me. Seems I have now joined the many how have had this happen. Someone hacked into my email account and into my address book. Just in case you received such an email..many of an off color nature..they are NOT from me. I apologize for the emails, I don't know what else to say. Now to go and change all passwords and do whatever else I can do to clean up this mess.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. This must be a popular one. I have had it happen twice already this year. I think the incidents were related because they happened almost exactly a month apart. maybe they are trying it every so many days,i warned everyone not to open anything from me for awhile. Have changed everything so think I'm okay now.

I am still in the process of changing everything. It seemed like it must have been harder for me to change my password on my ISP and modem then for whoever to get through.

It is heartbreaking to think that, whatever gives you the little pleasure you have in life to chat or send your emails to loved ones, some fools think they can just hack in and upset your whole life so that they can have "fun"> They have sick minds and should be institutionalized where they must be put to hard labour so that they will learn to appreciate real life. Hope you will be OK.

I was thinking something about them learning a new trade in the 'license plate' industry. For those that don't know what I mean..it used to be said that prisoners use to make license plates.

About 15 years ago a computer tech told me to add aaaaaa@aaaaa.aaa as my first e-mail contact. He said if I ever got hacked this would be sent back to me as undeliverable. It has happened to me once and since I got the undeliverable message back right away it stopped a lot of fraudulent e-mails going to others. I don't know if this still works today, this was quite a while ago for me. Best of luck and sorry for all your inconvenience. I wish people would leave others alone.

Sorry to hear that. It is such a pain to change the passwords. I wonder what enjoyment people have to do that. Good luck with cleaning it up.

I had this happen to me a few months ago and my daughter asked me if I had sent her a particular email and as I hadn't, she told me to change my password asap - I did - and no more problems.

I do not know if this will help, but I once read that the first address in your addressbook must be aaaaaaaa@aaaa.aa then they cannot get past that one and none will be sent. I do not know if it will work, but my first one is aaa for just incase of something like this.

It takes me almost 2 days to run a complete virus scan and I had JUST finished about the time the scan was complete. It found a trojan in the registry. It almost makes me think the scan woke it up.

I think when they catch hackers they should have their fingers cut off. It might deter others before they start!

Wow that is a bummer. My sis had people calling to see if she was OK, after they received emails saying she was in a car accident and to send $$$. Unbelievable!

Those emails should be reported to her ISP. Until we ALL do so we are just victims. It may not help much but at least it is doing something. I can only imagine all the unnecessary pain emails like that cause.

How awful some people can be. I can't imagine what pleasure they get out of doing something like this.

I agree. I can't imagine any pleasure in hurting another person like that either. I almost think it is someone who needs to get back on their medications!
