I have been wondering... how long do digital sewing machines last? My old mechanical singer is over 40 years old.. But my Brother is digital - what happens eventually when the computer dies?

I have a Pfaff and has the memory board which was replaced about 8 years ago. My husband purchased as a present to me in 1978(?) It was my only one until my children purchased a Brother 2500D about 3 years ago for Christmas and I bought a Brother SE-400 last year. All are great, still working. Betty

I had a Brother 1000 for over 10 years and it never missed a beat, it was my first embroidery machine and I loved it. The visual display panel got so bad that I couldnt see it and I approached Brother direct and they told me because of its age it was a throw away job. I found someone who would replace the screen but they wanted almost $100 Aussie dollars so I decided to buy a new one, the new one (still a Brother) is not as good, outlining always off, but the service guy says it is me, not the machine.

I have a couple of older machines that keep working well, inspite of their "age", and don't want to get rid of them, because of their loyalty! LOL I understand the computer part of the digital machine is rather expensive to replace. So, when it comes to that, I will have to weigh the pros and cons of getting a new one, instead of repairing, or vise versa! Hope your Brother keeps healthy for a long time to come, Jan!
Hugs,
Angel
