WOW!! I did not get this even though it was a freebee as I knew I would never stitch it. Fancy passing up a free design.
I have got this 1 but have not stiched it as yet. I did do 1 of the other bags in the 5x7 size. Stitched most of it together by hand, with an invisible thread. It is very difficult to get the machine into some parts. But enjoyed doing it.

As you say perhaps the problem is working with the small size of the purse.
Try the larger size and see how you do.
We have all been through this and learned along the way!
There is a Tutorial on making the purse on the A Stitch A Half website.
I will post the link for you below.
Perhaps you can print it off so you can follow the steps.

Thank you for posting the link for anyone thinking about making this purse. I had seen it before I started the purse so I understood the instructions, I just didn't expect it to be so difficult to assemble the pieces. My 5x7 hoop machine is in the shop but as soon as I get it back I am going to try the larger size. Then I will let you all know how that one went.
Cont. but as soon as I get it back I am going to try the larger size. I will let you know how that goes.
I didn't get this design free - but have had it for years - the smaller clutch is really small - isn't it? Have fun stitching out the larger one.
I think that it is perfectly lovely! & great for a novice! Thank you for sharing the info on the size too as I was thinking that I might make one & I'm glad to know that a 5x7 would be better!
I have sewed for years, that was the point of the comment about not being a project for a novice. I think it would be so frustating for a beginner that they would give up. I also know that the next one that I make will have a few revisions to the original instructions. My advice is to try one in scrap fabric first.
I think you have done a good job and like the color you have chosen. Hugs, Lidia
Loving the colors, I did download but looked and thought to complicated for me today. Glad to see someone else has had a go first! giving us all heads up on degree of difficulty!
yes putting these things together can be a challenge you did a great job :):)
I too love you colors and appreciate the heads up on the smaller design. Yours turned out nice!
