Today I received an answer from Tijima (Pulse Ambassador) regarding my request for a link on their website to the older version that converted home formats.

Here is the response:

Our old Ambassador is no more available but we have another program that can convert files and it is not very expensive. Please have a look at this link:

http://www.annthegran.com/Search....

I visited the link and found that 'Catalog Xpress' is their replacement for Pulse Ambassador. It ranges in price from $159 to $99 and upgrades from $84.99 to 74.99. It appears that the popularity of their free version with home embroiders has given them the idea for a new revenue stream by creating this product. I had no idea it was a Tijima product and it isn't advertised that way.

Notice in the response that 'it isn't very expensive'. To go from 'free' to $99 is expensive to me.

The Wilcom True Sizer free program would be the best choice now for a free conversion program. It has now been updated to include the larger hoop sizes for home formats.

For those willing to spend that kind of money for Catalog Xpress, the Embird digitizing software might be a better choice just in case you ever wanted to edit designs or learn to digitize.

I have just sent an email to the person that responded advising them of my understanding of their money making goal and explaining the current situation for many home embroiderers. That situation being, those that upgraded to the new version, losing their ability to convert home formats and finding they could not return to the old version.

I have also asked several questions regarding access to the old version for embroiderers that updated without knowing what they would be giving up.

I really didn't know if I would get a response to my first email and I suppose I am expecting negative responses to what I have asked Tijima today. By expecting the worst perhaps I won't be so disappointed if their answers are the least bit positive. At least there is dialogue with me which in itself is better than I expected.

I will keep you all updated

In this day with the economy the way it is, I'm sure a lot of people would consider $99+ is a lot of money. Thanks for letting us know.

I'll tell you the best thing about the sandscomputing products-SewIconz,SewWhatPro,etc, is that the software author, Steve, is right there on the yahoo group every day, along with Judy, list Mom, and Gwen, list moderator (of stitches in motion),to help. He is constantly adding and changing to suit the needs of all the users.
No ads! Just people helping with the software. I love it and them.

I am so sorry Marcelle. Edit Express does NOT convert files and it is from Amazing Designs and NOT from Embroidery Designs. I think my brains have gone to mush!!! Sarah.

I didn't know the difference but there are probably some cuties that would have noticed it. I call my times like that 'senior moments'. Thanks for the clarification for everyone.

Thank you Marcelle, this is most interesting. My DH gave me SewWhatPro at Christmas - it is a wonderful program. Before I had SWP I used the free version of Wilcom Trusizer and also a very nice free conversion program Edit Express Lite which I found on Embroidery Designs. Sarah.

You can download Sew What Pro and use it as a Demo version for so many uses or so many days before purchasing it. Try it out and see what you think.
All you have to know is what Bit your windows syatem is - 32 bit or 64 bit!
Get Sew what Pro and not Sew What as Sew What Pro has many more features.

They also have a Yahoo Group you can join and ask questions etc. Link below.

You may want to look into purchasing Sew What Pro as it is both an Editing program and a Conversion program. It is reaonably priced (about $69.00).
I runs on all Windows operating systems and is a great program. All updates for this program are free. See link Below.

That sounds like a better buy than Catalog Xpress since it allows editing.

I still have my old install file so I don't need it. I am only doing this to try to make it available again for anyone that wants it.

Well after I tried to contact Metro threads and got no reply you have done well to get one. I suppose that when one considers the cost of a embroidery machine and all that goes with it that a extra $99 is considered by them to be nothing?
There are many who will miss out on converting designs they have got in another format

All the best with your problem. Thanks very much for finding out more details, on behalf of others who have the older version. I have Wilcom Truesizer. Don't know how to work it yet. ***

Susie, you really must try it. Not difficult as long as you "play" for a while. Good luck.

Thank you very much for doing this. I have the old version on 1 computer and a different version on another computer. I didn't save the download info from the first one so I can't transfer it to another cmoputer : (

I THINK you can make a backup disk for your older version so if your computer crashes or you get a new one, you can re-install it. Am 99% sure that is legal as it's for yourself as a backup! Many programs advise you to make a disk as a back up.

Today it is all about the all mighty dollar and now with embroidery becoming more and more popular, there interest is in making a new product and not upgrading (because they cannot make $$$) their previous product.
Too bad for those that have this program,

Here's the latest response:

'Older version of Pulse Ambassador has been removed due to security reason and we are working on something different to offer to our customers but it might take some time. But the software I offered AlphabetXP for example is not that expensive.'

They didn't answer my other questions but at least there is a something different in the works. It doesn't sound like it will be soon but we can watch for it.
